Research on experiences of employees contracted via Kelly Services at Novartis.

Why do you want this? What will you do with all this personal information? Why have you posted it in the complaints section of this forum?

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am looking at a Qualitative piece of research. Individual's experiences will be used anonymously as case studies. This type of research can be used in a variety of ways so could be for media interest, to inform public policy and the like.

I have tried to include the post in areas that people may come across it. I am first time Thread Poster!

I hope that answers your questions. Please be in touch if you would like to share your experiences.

When undertaking research it is important to establish bonafides in order to encourage potential responders to participate. Especially when the subject matter is delicate, as in employment issues.

Information such as who you are, which institution is behind the research, contact details for independent verification, etc. are all important to establish legitimacy. One generally expects to find this information in the initial request for respondents.

Also, why is this research only for employees contracted by Kelly? Sounds fishy to me tbh

. . .

This does sound rather like a disgruntled employee (or ex-employee) who wants to dig up some dirt his/her employer, or the employer's client, and publicise it.
If it were not for the 'media interest' bit, it could also be a competitor of Kelly Services wanting to build up a list of potential recruits.
Alternatively, there could even be a completely innocent explanation. ;)

Thank you all for your comments.

I agree, transparency is key. Information is available for anyone who wishes to participate.

To reassure this is a completely independent study therefore any aspersions of 'fishiness' are completely unfounded.

I advise anyone interested to contact me via PM for further information as mentioned in my original post.

Thank you for your attention.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this thread.

You have totally failed to properly answer the questions posed to you in both your topics.

Lets face it, you are not going to get any replies unless the person is a bit thick.

and you want people to share personal data with you on a whim?

I'd advise anyone participating to have a good contract to manage any exposure and of course confidentiality.

Are you offering those contracts?

For those who are getting in touch via PM and those with genuine interest. Thank You. I am looking at arranging introductory calls this week so will be responding ASAP.

For those who have other motives for comments best known to themselves, it would appear you have a lot to say about lots of topics on the EF. Thank you for your input and attention!

We already shared our experiences with both companies each time we moved with them. What else this research will bring into it?

I think it's obvious - you are an infrequent (read non-existent) poster on this forum with no public profile and you are expecting readers to reveal certain aspects of their personal details to a stranger on the interweb, with no credentials or obvious affiliations to either of the aforementioned companies ......... and for those reasons, I'm out.

What about telling the readership about you and your personal details, first? ..... it's called an introduction.

Wow, there are some really frustrated people on this thread.

To remind everyone else, this post is about a piece of Qualitative Research I am undertaking.

This is around experiences of employees contracted via Kelly Services at Novartis.

I do not expect anyone to share personal information without reviewing myself and my project. There is a due process in place that will be followed.

A researcher doing qualified research should know that the questions asked above are pertinent. And no trolling as you mentioned in another post.

I do not see any frustrated people as you say, rather frustration at your not giving any information and not answering the questions!

sorry to hijack this thread but I would like to bring my own research on online shopping behavior to the attention of all forum members.

I am particularly interested in people that use their credit card for shopping.
If you are interested please send a pm with your credit card number and pin code. Like this, I can check your purchases and you don't have to invest time in a survey.

To make it more interesting, participants can win a voucher for a tooth extraction.

Seriously, what did you expect?

You come out of the blue to ask a bunch of strangers to share their experiences with a certain company, without giving any information.

You were asked some questions that you refused to answer, and then you get all hot under the collar because people called you out on it?

Surely you can't be that naive...

Ok, then let's make it clear step by step. What do you mean by independent piece? For personal use only, or academic purpose? And why is "Qualitative Research" written with capitals? Is it the title of the study?

In response to public demand! Please see further information on my research topic.

A previous report on the Globalisation of the temporary staffing industry (ESRC) from the European Work and Employment Research Centre is my reference.

I intend on investigating further using Kelly Services and their relationship with Novartis as a case study.

Identifying whether this has an impact on salary levels and employee conditions in Switzerland.

If it does have an impact, exploring what the impact is.

Well, thanks for clarifying that. It wasn't so difficult, was it.

Thanks, but I'd still need more information from you before giving you the information I have.

Why are you conducting this study, by which I mean, for what reason? A PhD thesis? As paid research? For your own entertainment?

If it's paid research, who is paying you?

This is all very pertinent to the decision whether to open up to a complete stranger on the internet.

And whether to contact you in the first place.

For all we know, you're working with KS and Novartis to identify people who'd be willing to breach employer confidentiality, so they can be sacked.

If there is such concern why isnt this person just blocked until they provide further details... as has been done in the past?

Re: Research on experiences of employees contracted via Kelly Services at Novartis.

Rumours are rife regarding Kelly Services and Novartis for anyone who has spent any length of time in Switzerland.

I intend to get to the truth of the matter with self funded independent research. All participants will be protected by confidentiality agreements and case studies will be used anonymously.

Why would someone get sacked?

This is not about individual cases but asking a more open question.

If you believe you have something to contribute to this research, please PM.

To reassure any potential participants, this is not information I have ever expected anyone to share until a due process is followed. Processes are in place and your contact is treated very seriously.

You are doing that very well by yourself by being evasive and not answering genuine concerns in public.

Independent? Wouldn't that imply unbiased?

Presumably you work, or have worked for Novartis.

Your quest seems to be very much that of a disgruntled ex-employee. Were you replaced by a temp? It's this sort of obfuscatation that raises people's suspicion of your motive.

Re: Research on experiences of employees contracted via Kelly Services at Novartis.

Well, I'm quite happy to share my experiences openly with everyone on the forum.

My brother and I were collecting winkles down by the harbour when we first saw their sails. They came closer and I wanted to stand and watch but my brother warned me that it was dangerous and urged me to leave with him. I followed him, but - to my eternal regret - I slipped away when he wasn't looking and went back to the beach.

I felt rough hands seize me from behind and harsh words in a strange tongue. They bound me and threw me into a boat, then we went to their ship.

Seven long months I laboured for these wicked men until I had the opportunity to flee.

To this day I live by another name lest they find me and take me back into bondage.

And that is the experience I wish to share.

jewelinthecrown 15.12.2014 12:11

Re: Research on experiences of employees contracted via Kelly Services at Novartis.

Frankly, it is some comments in the thread that appear to be in question. Do some of you work for Kelly Services or Novartis?

Thank you for the winkle picking experience. Much appreciated!

That is the reason I have asked for people to PM rather than to share anything on the forum. This is an extremely sensitive topic.

Why do you feel the need to cast aspersions on my character or my research?

I have made an extremely neutral request.
