RAV - After your employment insurance runs out

What happens after your 400 days entitlement to employment insurance runs out and you still haven't found work?

Re: RAV - After your employment insurance runs out

A friend of mine received Sozialhilfe and was told to use her savings account etc fully first and to move to a smaller/cheaper apartment. I think Sozialhilfe is also due to be repaid when you have a regular job again?

They seriously means test you and once this has been done and you used up the excess, there is RMI which in Romade is Revenue Minimal d'Insertion.

Basicaly what you need for a VERY basic lifestyle

Also counts against you when it's time for the permit to be renewed too iirc. Don't do it if there's any way to avoid it.

Re: RAV - After your employment insurance runs out

Im too facing this worst case scenario, would be running out of RAV in a few months. Im an EU-citizen with a C-permit. Got a decent amount of savings and also living with my girlfriend who can/will support us if this happens however I'm the one on the apartment contract (not sure if that matters as long as the rent gets paid).

Anything i need to do or think about if i run out of the 400 days? My RAV adviser has no clue about this.

That suuuuuuks big time.
If you are in a so-called lebensgemenshaft, aka as living together, she will be obliged to contribute to your income.
With a C permit you are entitled to benefits but they let you jump through burning hoops to get it and once you are on it is very difficult to get off again. If there is any other way, including leaving CH then do that.

You need accident insurance, you can extend the SUVA cover organised by RAV for 6 months at 25 CHF a month, after that you should add to your health insurance.

Isn't accident insurance already included in my private health insurance?

Are you referring to social benefits? There is no way i would be getting that - I've got plenty of savings and my GF is a high earner. So my concerns are more practical in nature.

Not normally in CH, health insurance covers illness.

Not usually if you're working, if you do more than 8-12 hours a week iirc then your employer has to provide accident insurance. I pay a bit more for my health insurance than my OH does because he works (so doesn't need the accident part) while I don't (so I do need to have it).
