RAV: Refuse a job

Hi all,
Does anyone knows what happens if one in on unemployment benefit and refuses to get a job that he does not like ?
Can the RAV punish by stopping monthly allowance?

Danke

Because you don't like it? Yes, they can.

Re: RAV: Refuse a job

Yes, they can penalise you financially. There are criteria which allow you to refuse a job (for example, if it's more than two hours' commute each way from where you currently live), but simply not liking the sound of the job isn't one of them.

Probably best to discuss it with your RAV advisor before refusing the job offer.

Re: RAV: Refuse a job

My understanding is that you 'get in trouble' after refusing 2 job offers.
as well as the commute being too long, another acceptable reason is pay offer is less than 70% of your last salary ( or something to that effect, don't quote me...). When you registered with RAV you would have been given a mountain of paper in German saying all this.

Re: RAV: Refuse a job

Thank you all 4 the valuable info.
Any idea what could be the penalty in case I say no to a job (A one that I fit to)?

So refuse an offer, even though you're supposed to list the result of all job applications on your monthly RAV form. Is that what you're suggesting?

Re: RAV: Refuse a job

AFAIK,You will be penalised with so called EINSTELLTAGE, which can range from a few days to a couple of weeks, but this is just in general. It also depends on your own Dossier and Details with them.
