| | Extending chomage indemnitie days
Has anyone successfully convinced Chomage office that they should extend the indemnitie days? I ask as I worked in Switzerland up to April 2014, then in the UK for 1 year and back here as of April 2015 unemployed. Looks like I only get 1 year coverage.

Not to my knowledge. How many days do you get? More than the maximum amount of days will not be granted to start with. After that it is Sozialhilfe I think.

Now thatīs for sure! You need to "eat up" all your savings etc up to a certain amount before you get Sozialhilfe

As long as it is RAV/chomage not, but as soon as you need Sozialhilfe you would not get anything if you have a house (no idea though what the ruling is if this is shared ownership).

and of course any social help will have to be repaid once you get a job or come into any money, like any inheritance, etc.

In Ticino, usually not, unless the inheritance is very large, or the job pays more than 10k/month.

Selling an average familyhouse in this country is likely to get you 200K cash.

You can own a house, have a mortgage and be on social welfare at the same time. All factors have to be taken into consideration, including how much debt you have. | Quote: | | | | They are reasonable people, however banks demand that you have decent overvalue on the house compared to the mortgage. Moreover they only force you to sell/move as an absolute last resort.

It all hinges on how much the property is deemed to be worth and how much debt there is. | This user would like to thank Clocker for this useful post: | |

Similar with a friend of mine. Use the proceeds from the house first, then try to apply again.
