Extending chomage indemnitie days

Has anyone successfully convinced Chomage office that they should extend the indemnitie days? I ask as I worked in Switzerland up to April 2014, then in the UK for 1 year and back here as of April 2015 unemployed. Looks like I only get 1 year coverage.

Re: Extending chomage indemnitie days

Not to my knowledge. How many days do you get? More than the maximum amount of days will not be granted to start with. After that it is Sozialhilfe I think.

Now thatīs for sure! You need to "eat up" all your savings etc up to a certain amount before you get Sozialhilfe

Re: Extending chomage indemnitie days

As long as it is RAV/chomage not, but as soon as you need Sozialhilfe you would not get anything if you have a house (no idea though what the ruling is if this is shared ownership).

Social aid will take into account the income and wealth of both parties, married or not.

and of course any social help will have to be repaid once you get a job or come into any money, like any inheritance, etc.

Depends on the canton.

In Ticino, usually not, unless the inheritance is very large, or the job pays more than 10k/month.

What if i own a house, and the mortgage + charges are less than rent i would need for the minimum sized house as per my family size?

They are reasonable people, however banks demand that you have decent overvalue on the house compared to the mortgage. Selling an average familyhouse in this country is likely to get you 200K cash.

This is simply not true. You can own a house, have a mortgage and be on social welfare at the same time. All factors have to be taken into consideration, including how much debt you have.

Not all houses generate that amount of money, especially if there is a mortgage and other debts where the money will go first. Moreover they only force you to sell/move as an absolute last resort.

Well, I personally know someone who was refused social aid until the house was sold, and who now lives on social aid.

Again, every situation is different. It all hinges on how much the property is deemed to be worth and how much debt there is.

Similar with a friend of mine. Use the proceeds from the house first, then try to apply again.
