Tax Manager - salary level

I would like to know what a tax consulting manager with 7 years Big4 experience could expect to earn (a range or ball park figure will do) with a Big 4 firm in Geneva in a similar role.

Thank you

Are we talking true manager level?
And it's Big One and Little Three - or so my mate told me

If my experience is anything to go by, you'll have the salary trend diagram rolled out for you and you'll be dropped at the mid-point. Manager = ~110/115 +expenses +bonus

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it is a True Manager level, and I was from the Big One! I am quite new to Switzerland, so I would like to know if salaries in Geneva are generally higher than the rest of Switzerland due to the higher cost of living?

Re: Tax Manager - salary level

I can't speak from experience, as I've only worked in Zug and Zürich, but the research I've read shows that salaries are higher in Zürich and Geneva than elsewhere in the country.

My personal opinion, however, is that location is unlikely to be a factor within a Swiss company - I mean, if you have a choice between job X in Geneva or job X in Luzern, you'll probably get the same salary. Still, got nothing to back that up except for a little bit of chitchat with employers around here. ;-)

Re: Tax Manager - salary level

Guess 115,000 CHF will suffice if you have other expat benefits such as housing. Geneva is more expensive than Zurich and housing is even more limited. I know somone who works for the UN in Geneva and he has a rent controlled apartment at around 2,800 per month. I'm not a tax accountant but I am an expat working for a large insurance co. and my good washington, dc salary was grossed up net of tax by quite a bit plus my housing is paid for. My level of experience would likely be similar to yours but I do have over 10 years experience in my industry-non manager. If I were to stay on here in Swiss land and work as a "local hire" I would demand more than the 115,000 that was mentioned by another member. What would a tax manager make in NYC? Last I checked Zurich and Geneva are about 25% more expensive than NYC.

Good luck and get what you need. You only have negotiating power before you get the job.

Re: Tax Manager - salary level

I'm reviving this thread because I'm interested in getting some insight into the Big 4 in Switzerland.

As mentioned in previous thread, it seems like there is one firm with a big presence and then there's the rest. Can someone clarify which one that is?

Reviving a 4-year old thread for a question not directly related? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to open a new thread of your own to pose that question?

Well, i want to know the salary range too, so it is relevant.

I wanted to avoid the "you should do a search first..."
