Anyone have experience with Lab4Tech in Lausanne

Hi,

this organization (http://www.lab4tech.ch/) is used by the ORP in Vaud to do skills assessments of IT workers: "Bilan complémentaire pour informaticien".

Just wondering if anyone has any recent experience of this course?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Anyone have experience with Lab4Tech in Lausanne

Even it's an old topic but it's always a benefit to share experiences.

Lab4tech is an association. They don't offer courses since they don't have qualified teachers neither adequate rooms neither adequate computer equipments. They pretend to have teachers but in fact the persons are all a kind of incompetent coach profilers. They propose to you severals topics in Computer Science (for example HTML, PHP, Scrum, etc. ...) and it is up to you to train yourself online such as watching videos or tutorials on the internet.
They also assess you as an incompetent and send negative report to ORP to obligate you take courses in their offices because they are paid by the ORP and have interest to have you as a new candidate...
To resume, it's a waste of time, what you do with them has no added value. I advise you to not accept, and talk with ORP to do something more interesting.

We took note of your feedback. We are sorry to hear that our services have not given you satisfaction. We remain of course at your disposal for any exchange on the problematic encountered and allowing us to improve.

For information, Lab4tech is effectively a non-profit association collaborating with ORP to help IT professionals to develop their employability with the job market’s expectations. That for we offer two services: "le bilan complémentaire pour informaticien" for IT specialists whose objective is to work on the market position and to issue recommendations in terms of development or validation of IT skills; Following the "Bilan complémentaire", it is possible to carry on with a practical internships on a self-training approach with supervision by professionals and allowing candidates to upgrade, develop or certify their ICT skills.

Re: Anyone have experience with Lab4Tech in Lausanne

You are a non-profit organization, but you receive benefits and money from the Swiss Confederation each year and for each person coming from ORP, so at the end you have a profit.

You offer "le bilan complémentaire pour informaticien": it's completely useless, everyone knows how to make a CV and a cover letter, everyone knows how to use platforms to visualize their skills. In addition, you do not help anything, you only check if there is a CV and a cover letter, the skills for each person are generated automatically by a platform, each person coming from ORP must do it alone. You are not giving any help.

"it is possible to carry on with a practical internships on a self-training approach with supervision by professionals and allowing candidates to upgrade, develop or certify their ICT skills.": this is not called an internship, it is called self-training, that is to say each one forms itself. For self-training there are specialized platforms with quality content by real IT professionals. There is no added value in what you call "practical internships" compared to already existing platforms. Furthermore, you are neither competent nor able to assess and/or supervise IT professionals.

Unfortunately you are useless, you are an association whose goal is business and money, the more people there are from ORP the more you gain benefit.

Hi,

Yes I have been there 4 years ago. They basically evaluate your IT experience and skillsets in 2-3 sessions. Based on this they will provide a report to the ORP on how the ORP can help you in getting a job.

The lab4tech associates are very friendly and you can tell them your wishes like any training or certificates you wish to get sponsored by ORP. In my case I got them to enrol me for French courses and also pay for my IT certification exams. The decision always rests with ORP what they want to do.
Regards.
