Additional bonus payment when left job

Hello all,

I have been trawling through this website but just need a little advice on a question I have.

At the end of 2016 I was given notice in my role which will come to end in 4 days time.

At the time I was told that I was not needed to be in the office during the notice period and I have been paid as normal.

In my role I receive a quarterly bonus based upon revenue with an opportunity to double this if an extended target is acheived. This happened in each quarter in 2016.

I have received the normal portion of my quarterly bonus for hitting the target but not the additional 50% which I should receive at the end of March but everything has gone a little quiet.

I'm just wondering how to approach this - as I've been paid the first part of this bonus will be eligible to receive the remainder or can the company wriggle out of it? I have a call next week with the Directors and want to make sure I have as much factual information as possible so any help would be gladly received.

You really need to read the rules about the company's bonus system.

Usually no bonus is paid if the employee is not working for the company, and as you left on 1.1.2017 I can't see how you can expect a bonus for any period in 2017.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply.

This was for 2016 - my last day of work is next Tuesday.

What I am saying is i've been paid 50% of what I should have got in 2016 as the rest is due in March this year when I will be no longer wokring for the company.

I'm just wondering the angle to take as its quite a bit of money I feel I'm owed.

Talk to your legal insurance. Regardless of what your contract may say, if your bonus is related directly to your own performance and you've received it regularly, then you're entitled to a pro rata share of it.
