Tutoring as a job during studies

Hello, everyone!

I am a Master's degree student at ETH Zurich. Is it possible to work as a private tutor? is it a necessary job? Will I be able to find pupils?

Moreover, because an international student is allowed to work only 15hr/wk, is there a chance that this tutoring won't count as working? Is there any chance to hide this fact?

Thank you for your answers.

Re: Tutoring as a job during studies

The question was a bit different.

Is it a common practice in Switzerland in general and Zurich in particular to find a private tutor for a child or an adult, so this private tutor will go to the owners apartment, house, some specified place and help a person to study?

Private tutoring is pretty common (helping students prep for the Matura or the ETH Aufnahmeprüfung), but if you're planning to do it under the table then asking about it on a public, google crawled, forum where your username is apparently your real name probably isn't a particularly smart move.

Re: Tutoring as a job during studies

Short answer - no, it's not possible because

"However, in both cases your employer will have to apply for your work permit at the cantonal Office for Economy and Labour ("Amt für Wirtschaft und Arbeit" – AWA) if you come from a non-EU country or from Romania or Bulgaria."

Without the work permit you can't work in any capacity.
