IT companies offer short terms jobs just to gain experiences? some other questions.

Hi everyone.

Here i will explain my situation. I am 35 years old. Currently I have a work contract 100% with a very small company in Ticino with low salary. 98% of my work related with English speaking environment.

I have tried all the possible way to find a job with any other company here by sending thousands of applications, calling, walk directly , registered with job agents, from the beginning of this year. Non of the above succeed.

My Italian Knowledge is B1, Going to sit for B2 Exam in this December.

One of my friend suggest that with in his experience two choices to break out this situation.

First one

There are lots of competition in IT field and the Italian language influence its looks like i want more experience with another companies. He also suggest that If i manage to find short terms or like internships jobs with multiple companies there will be more chances to move job.

Second one

Doing a full time Master course in IT and then search job.

My questions are.

1. How can i find short term or internship or with out payment IT job in Ticino only for gain experince?

2. Is it true that some IT companies will accept people without paying them for job but just to earn experiences, if the labor office send an unemployer?

3. What are the IT companies offer short terms jobs just to earn experiences?

4. Is it possible to register in Labor office while working?

5. Is it possible to get any study loan or help from the Canton with my age?

Thanks for helping.

Unfortunately, I tend to answer "no" to all your questions.
Having contracted in IT for more than 25 years, 18 of which in Switzerland, I don't quite understand the term "IT Companies". Who are they - software vendors? Network service providers?
At least in Zurich/Bern/Geneva, such companies consume very small fraction of IT workforce. Most of Swiss IT jobs are in financial sector - banks and insurances.
And, last but not least... The only reason I don't live in Ticino, is that, comparing to Zurich, there are practically *no* IT jobs on the southern side of the Alps ((
Sorry to say that, but, probably, moving north is your only option.
You can try to find a 3-month trial contract in Zurich, this is quite realistic, if you can afford to go below CHF 400/day brutto

Thanks for your thought. How ever my apologies. I realized that my text and title should be Companies that offer IT Jobs.

1. Networking my friend, in switzerland the only way to move arround is by "knowing" someone. Contacts is your most reliable resource here.

2. Actually you can, in Ticino they call them "STAGES" and you can work up to 6 months without actually being paid "legally". With only 4.5% swiss population, Ticino has 25-30% of frontiers workers and I can confirm you that asking a job on tutti.ch with no pay would make your phone ring no stop.

3. To many, literally hundreds of IT company founded every month!

4. Yes, absolutly.

5. If you are swiss or have a "B EU/EFTA permit (Resident foreign nationals)" and there is a valid reasons witch you can't continue your old profession than, also in this case, absolutly yes.

Dears,

i need advice and information.

Since my husband prequalified in PHP Developer because he had been interested in the IT sector for the whole life, so is there any possibility in Switzerland to get a chance for some practice or junior position, taking into account the fact that he has 34 years and a Croatian passport

I doubt it since Croatian nationals are under quota limits for permits. It simply wouldn't be worth an employer's time and expense to try and get a permit for him for a short term or temp position.
