Student Jobs Abroad C Permit

Hi,

My name is Kasper and I am currently seeking advice on attaining a part-time job in Scotland while continuing my studies and keeping my C permit.

I seek help because I have been told that I risk losing my current Swiss C permit if I aim to have any sort of employment opportunities in Scotland. The problem arises because I have been informed that to be eligible as an employee I must first acquire a National Insurance Number in Scotland. A requirement to getting a National Insurance Number is that I must use a UK address as my permanent residency address and I was told that if I was to proceed with doing that I could lose the C permit that I own. Is it possible to apply for anything that could help me keep my C permit for the rest of my time while studying, in addition with acquiring a job? If not, what other options do I have?

Additional information for any possible queries:
My parents are both Danish and I own Danish passport and therefore am a EU citizen. This allows me to do my university studies without having to pay tuition. The job that I seek is not to help pay for rent but is for living costs. I would also like to gain work experience during my studies. I am just starting my second year of study and likely have two more after.

Excuse this post if there is a similar thread that has answered my questions.

Any help is appreciated.

Kindest regards,

Kasper

Re: Student Jobs Abroad C Permit

Talk to your gemeinde/commune admin office to see if you can put your C permit on hold while you study abroad. It's a perfectly good reason for "suspending" the permit until you finish your studies and return to Switzerland.
