I need your help!

Hello

I am from Lebanon and I have the Belgian a 5 years residence card and would like like to work in a Lebanese restaurant in Switzerland. Is it possible? The restaurant owner can make a contract to me even if I don't have thr swiss residence card? Could I have one from the contract? Thank you for helping if you know what are the measures to take

Having a residence card for Belgium won't give you residence in Switzerland.

And unfortunately coming from Lebanon does not make it easier as the employer needs to show he/she couldnīt find anyone else from the EU or Switzerland. Apart from that, youīd need an entry visa to start with

Re: I need your help!

It is the restaurant owner's job to apply for a permit for you. He needs to convince the authorities that he didn't find anyone else in CH/EU for that job, but I guess that could be done given that he may want an authentic Lebanese experience in his restaurant He would present them your contract etc. and they would give him a response. But, it may be a lot of work for him - this whole process.

Most employers manage to do this. Apart from family reunification, this is how many non-EU citizens come here.

I doubt a restaurant owner will be able to do it given the non-EU hiring criteria.

This would mean not only a university degree in a hospitality/food related course, but also several years' experience in the business. Also given the time and expense of applying for a permit it's cheaper and easier to look for any Lebanese who already live/work in Switzerland they can hire.

And no, your Belgian residence permit means nothing in Switzerland. You're still a non-EU national for hiring purposes and priority is given to Swiss/EU nationals and people who already have permission to live and work here.
