Employment in Switzerland

Hello All,

I have worked in Switzerland in 2012 for 2 years and after that I went back to my country. My visa and all are expired now. I am not an EU citizen nor I have any knowledge about German Language.

Although currently I am taking German Language classes. I am very much interested now to do job in Switzerland again. I am SAP consultant. I am checking from my end is there any way I could get any job offer by giving interviews but I am not getting any. I am in touch many job consultants in Switzerland but it is little tough to get any job without having valid Swiss work permit.

Can please anyone advice me if there are any job consultants who can help me align my interview or can help me to get job?

Not the answer you wish to here.

Its very very difficult given the current situation.

Well, its not impossible but very difficult. Good luck with your search.

Re: Employment in Switzerland

Without specialized or niche skills and/or significant experience and/or significant managerial experience (i.e. close to C-level), chances are slim. You need a Swiss employer willing to employ you and then jump through a bunch of bureaucratic hoops, including proving that no Swiss/EU/EFTA citizen can do your job - which is unlikely in most cases.

On what basis were you here the last time and what parts of the criteria above (experience, specialization) do you fulfil?

Not sure what a "job consultant" is, but if you're speaking about agencies, forget it, they are highly unlikely to find anything for you you can't find yourself, not given the circumstances (non-EU etc.). They will also be of zero help in terms of getting you a job as the above criteria stand no matter what. An interview won't help you if neither the job nor your qualifications are in line with the above - quite the opposite, it would only frustrate you.

Also, not sure how long you've been looking, but just to be clear: this is a slow-moving labor market and it's perfectly normal to look for a job for months on end, even if having a permit or being Swiss, and having significant experience.

Hi, I am SAP MM consultant and was on project for Novartis and thus worked for nearly 2 years then my project period finished and I went back to my country.

I am getting a very clear picture that it is very tough to get a job in Switzerland in my condition but I will try my luck may be sometime I get an opportunity.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
