Frontend developer salary

Hello, i am a frontend developer who live in Germany/Munich. Also i have a backend experience.
My current salary is 50k euro per year.

My skills are:

HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, SASS, Bootstrap, Foundation, jQuery, JavaScript, Webpack, AJAX, PHP, YII2, Laravel, Web Services, AWS, WordPress, Joomla, MySQL, PostgreSQL, GIT, Gulp, Grunt.
As well as Vue.js and a bit of Angular 1.

One company in Zurichis offering 80k CHF per year. Do you think its okay or too low?

Re: Frontend developer salary

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I would be very happy to be earning 80k a year.

You probably wouldn't be able to afford your dream car though - maybe on lease?

Re: Frontend developer salary

Yes, but those 80K CHF are before taxes. So if I devide 85 / 13 = 6500 CHF brutto or 5100 CHF netto per month.

I hope I have my calculations are correct.

Do you think its possible to find an 1 room appartment for 1000 - 1200 CHF? And what about food, i guess it will take arround 400 CHF.

In Zurich? A room in a WG will easily cost 800 CHF. Apartments are most of the time much more expensive.

Have a look around here in the several threads posted on this.

Too low even according to official statistics

1200 for a small apartment is perfectly realistic, you might not get one right away in your first month, and it depends on how centrally you want to live, but it's definitely possible

I dont get it, I have researched a forum. Some people say like 80 - 90k is quite okay for one person and you will save some money of course.
But some say that it is too low. like you say right now.
What should be the salary then in your opinion for this possition?

Re: Frontend developer salary

If you are like 24-26 years old, 80k isnt that low. If you are 10 years older (with all the experience) its too low.

German taxes are brutal and MUC is expensive so 80k here will allow for more splurge than 50k there.

For living of course it's okay, some people survive here just fine even on as low as 20k income.

At least 6 figures

Why don't you just check glassdoor or something?

Re: Frontend developer salary

Okay, just another question, for me would be quite important if I would save every month 1,5k euro at least!
And i think with this salary it should be possible, no?

Re: Frontend developer salary

The official existence minimum in Zürich is 1100 CHF + rent. Maybe you can get a WG room for 500-600. On 80k salary you'll cough up about 1k a month in taxes and deductions, so that should leave you a whopping 5k = 4.3k EUR a month to spend/save

But this is still not a good reason to accept a dumping salary offer. Unless you need the job to get your boot into the country

Re: Frontend developer salary

Oh, okay. Thank you.

So if netto salary is 4.3K eur per month.
Then it is:
1) 4.3 eur - 1200 eur (1 room non-shared apartment) = 3100 eur.
2) 3100 eur - 400 eur (food, home made) = 2700 eur.
3) 2700 - 300 (other small expences) = 2400 eur.

Hmm, not that bad! I can save up to 2K eur every month.

With 4.8k CHF netto, its possible. (80k brutto is 6.66k per month. Depending on your age thats about 25-28% off for taxes and state insurance/retirement)
1200 rent
400 food
400 transport
400 health insurance
200 other expenses

Roughly 2600 CHF per month. You possibly might want to spend a bit more on rent, and food (400 CHF isnt too bad actually, but might require some limitations)

Lets say 3000 CHF expenses. Thats, with current Euro rate, then about 1500 Euro to keep.

No holidays, no bigger expenses. But its doable.

You forgot health insurance and Transport in your calculation

Depends HEAVILY on work experience.

Apprentiship and 2 year work experience? Not THAT low.

Specialized in a high-demand area, 10 year experiences, great references? Of course too low then.
