Salary & Value of Titles in Geneva - Tech/Digital Marketing

Hello Everyone,

Searched the forum and internet - most info is outdated or not relevant.

For the digital marketing industry, I see no "day-to-day" responsibility differences for specialist, strategist, even manager - most ask for same years of experience, etc... What context is this scaling?

For a tech company, what salary can I expect as their digital marketing specialist? Is this a positive thing since there is room to evolve into > strategist > manager?

Personal: 5+years digital marketing experience (SEO, SMM, PPC) I will also be writing copy, and PR outreach across various product channels.

Any direct advice from those in the industry will be appreciated as well as any 'specialist' to 'manager' references in other fields.

Thanks a bunch - great weekend to all.

Re: Salary & Value of Titles in Geneva - Tech/Digital Marketing

It's really company and industry-specific. From 65k all the way to 90k starting salaries. I accepted 4500chf per month but it's for a 50% position.
Their offer to you will not be that negotiable, from my experience...
Post back and let us know what you get offered - always curious...

45000 per month is quite nice for a %50 position. Hope you'll get a way to up in the future.

As I get the offer, I would like to share information here in the forum. The position is automation specialist and My personal limit is at least 80 000 chf gross annual but prefer to have 6000 ch per month net income as I have 8 years experinced.

Hope to get a offer close to what I'd like.

Hello

They've offered me 85 000 gross annual salary. Isn't it little above for 8 years of experinced employee. I have engineering degree even I dont work as engineer.

What I've been expecting is 100 000 annual gross. In this case (with 85 000) I will have 5300 net monthly salary in my pocket, as far as I see, this amounth would not be enough for my life expectation. I've been living in Istanbul, I have my own studio flat (not city center), I have my car to commute but I travel at weekends with my motorcycle. So life in Istanbul is difficult but I have all the tips and my own set up, so I am living in the good way.

Shall I honestly ask 100 000 annual? or Shall I ask roughly %20 incease instead of giving exact number?

If they refuse to increase the offer. Is it possible to rent my own flat and live in good way with this amounth?

Thank you

Yes that's one of the reasons why I've wanted to go abroad

But I have to start up in Basel, so there will be too much to spend and I wouldn't like to move with a salary that is below what I need to keep the quality of life I have in Istanbul.

I think it is a good offer Marryann. And yes, you can have a nice life in Basel with 5300 net. This new experience will be Switzerland based so your salary will go up from there.

Take it!

Hello Joey-G

Thanks for feedback.

I am not sure about the calculation I've found and I've asked a rough table of net monthly salary from hr and asked to re-consider the amount. I am keeping my finger crossed. I am so excited and afraid at the same time due to challanges are waiting me.

Honestly - they will probably not move "big" up - maybe a bit...

On the other hand with Erdogan now in charge for everything I would move out even for less than that

Honestly it may look funny but somehow we are used to him. As white collar secular employees who earn above the "middle wage" we drink raki, we go out for lunch every single day, ride motorbike (my new hobby) and just live in our safe zone away from others Its too complicated. We suffer but on the other hand we live in good manner.

My willing is first of all to enchance my career in an international enviroment. I hope they might come up with around 100 000 - 110 000 chf . Hope they dont read this

Uhm you seriously think with 5300 NET you can't afford an own studio apartment and transportation and a generally good to very good life? You most definitely can. The average (!) salary is about 10k p.a. less than that. If you find someone housing under a bridge here on that salary (or generally), let me know...

85k is a perfectly good salary and appears in line with what you wrote about background and experience

(even if I'm sure someone will come along here, claiming it's impossible to live on less than 200k and that by default, no matter what you do or who you are, you shouldn't settle for anything less...).

If they offered 85k, there's no way they will go up 20%. Maybe up to 90k, but that's about as far as I'd push it.

I am very afraid of having a life under the bridges of Basel

You are right I saw people who are questioning the obtain a good life with 120-13 k salaries in the forum Also in Istanbul wage expectation of people may vary from 2k to 20 k net per month. I am above the average and ofcourse a standard life.

I've asked hr to help me to understand net salary and after that I can ask them to review their offer.

Thank you all of the information you've provided.

Re: Salary & Value of Titles in Geneva - Tech/Digital Marketing

By experience - if they go up 5k/year that would be it. Maybe you will get more in bonus or promised increase in salary in the next X years on the contract.

Negotiated few times as a last 2 candidate having another offer already on the table and that was max they went although I was the one which they have choose as first choice....

Good luck anyway...

Hi Marryann,

It is nice to see my homies moving to CH
I took the same decision 9 years ago and main motivation was international career but the biggest side reason was, I'd been mentally tired of living in Istanbul, you know the hassles; crowd, challenges, expenses, going out almost 5 times a week, etc...

Then I moved the "biggest city" in CH, Zürich.
(just for you to compare entire population of Zürich city is less than the district I used to live in Istanbul (Kadiköy) you've got the pic )

The first 2-3 years, my feeling was not really good, i.e. language, limited social life, boring, dark and grey weather, everything closed on Sundays! etc...
and Now I can not even walk on the pedestrian walk way in Istanbul, not used to crowd anymore...

It is a balance you gotta understand with pros and cons...

Regarding to 85k, yes you can live on that, probably not in a way that u used to live back in Istanbul, smaller apartment and less social life, but otherwise it should be OK, if you can negotiate to tap up to 90k would be nicer of course...

Wow it is very nice to see someone even at the forum. First time I feel what it means "hemşerim"

I am very much aware of challanges in Istanbul but still my comfortzone that I should be get out off it.

I've been in Zurich once, in Basel 4-5 times. It looks too depressive being over there away from all of the life I've constructed in many years and start over it. I hope I can find a social life in Basel otherwise I will be get bored quite so often.

For the life is waiting me with this offer. It looks hard to not go out for lunch and dinner. I'll have to cook at home. I want to live in my own place but looks difficult to maintain it (at least first 6-8 months).

I've asked net salary table then I'll ask a revision. But as I understand from the comments I've got, there is almost no hope to get a offer above 90 K CHF

Meanwhile someone from Basel told me that I can live with a salaryaround 2500 - 3000 easily and can afford a small flat. He made my day.

We'll see.

Thank you for all the nice comments coming.

Re: Salary & Value of Titles in Geneva - Tech/Digital Marketing

Hello

I asked for a review what I was offered. This week they came with new offer 100 000 chf and I accepted. I am very pleased that they kindly took in to the considiration my request.

They will apply for B permit soon. They also offered relocation package consist of tax consultant, german class, Installation Allowance etc.

So I would recommend you to ask them to review the package as you get offer.

Regards
