Ab out UB S

When I first walked in a Swiss Bank (UBS) in Geneva, accompanying my mother I was 7 years old and that was some 30 years ago. It was a great experience of being at a Swiss institution's workplace. My recent experience with the same institute (UBS) left me thinking if it is still a Swiss bank or some kind of subsidiary of Polish institute.

No harm to nobody, I am curious to know if UBS AG is still a Swiss Bank.

Please describe that experience 30 years ago. They gave you some candies and this time not?

If this is a serious question: the legal structure of UBS is complex.
Below a link to the video of an explanation for dummies (don't mean you particularly, it's just an incredibly dumb video).

Am curious - how did you notice the Polish (huge) bit - this is usually kept well hidden behind the bank counter together with the Indian (huge) bit.

Re: Ab out UB S

Thank you very much, the video for dummies is informative and was worth watching.

The UBS HR system is governed by Poles. They control the bank by controlling the entry of worker into UBS.

Let me give you a evidence similar to this... In 2004 I saw huge number of Poles entered into the UK. They were all over the place, it's funny but they were more competitive (cheaper) than that of Asian workforce in the UK labor market, referrals of one to another countryman got them on jobs, later they opened their own recruitment agencies all over the UK, since 2004 till 2014 those agencies helped hundred of thousands of poles into the UK market. Around million Poles have established a little Poland (Polish Market, Polish Church, Polish Schools, Polish everything) in the UK in less than 10 years pushing Uk authorities to start offering public services in polish as well.

That is how I noticed.

And yes, what does that have to do with going into a UBS branch in Switzerland?

Apart from that, I think this is bs, maybe have a check on how many nationalities actually work for UBS in Switzerland

So tell us: Why does a Swede living in Sweden decide to bank with UBS in Geneva? Or is that account inherited from 30years ago?

If you are looking for banks that exclusively hire Swiss nationals will you have a hard time.

I am sure I have posted in Employment section of this forum not investment section.

Actually no one can have hard time if the employer says so upfront.

Re: Ab out UB S

I'm confused by the purpose of this thread If there is one.

Most large Swiss corporations have really very few "Swiss aspects" these days anymore. Just the way it is. Called globalization I think. Not that I necessarily think this is good, but whatever.

The Polish-Indian-whatever-is-currently-trendy stuff usually refers to what the big guys consider "irrelevant menial work any random person can do" though (of course it's never as menial as they think). Those that actually run companies don't come from there. Though they tend to not be Swiss either.

This is explicitly restricted to my personal experience with MNCs. As usual, YMMV.

And what exactly was your question again? If there is some Polish mafia undermining the Swiss labour market and forcing poor Swiss out of their banking jobs?

The answer is: No.

Ah, so if you're looking at UBS as a potential employee - the HR is largely off-shored to Poland, yes. This may well change in the future. If you want another view of the future, then take an example of what CEO Sergio Ermotti said in an interview to Bloomberg a few weeks ago, using one of your own countries examples:

When asked if nothing was sacred, not even a move from Zurich, as the Scandinavian bank Nordea had moved its headquarters from Sweden to Finland, Ermotti said:

"Nothing. Not even. Nordea: It's mostly owned by people who are Swedish investors. "

The same applies to UBS, continued Mr Ermotti. "We're not controlled by Swiss investors, either. We're owned by foreign investors, as are our direct competitors. "

Here the full link if you're interested:

https://insideparadeplatz.ch/2017/10...hweiz-six-ubs/

I'm out of the discussion now, as I don't really like the Polish bashing you want to steer this towards.

Has your mum declared the account to Swedish tax? Better hurry before some polish back office guy flags your account to Sweden.
