Compensation / package at FIFA

Hey all,

I'm working in Finance in London/NYC with decades at a senior level leading teams of 10-50. I've been approached and had initial discussions to join FIFA. The intermediary I'm communicating through has limited knowledge of the organisation. I'm aware that some international organisations have special arrangements for staff, schooling for kids etc.

Does anyone know where FIFA might sit compared to other employers ? E.g. Bonus / pension / tax / salary / health for partner / holidays / anything else. I'm very comfortable with the role but they are really giving me zero clue about comp.

I've asked a couple of contacts in Zurich who have given mixed (second-hand) reports about the working experience there.

Z

how corrupt are you?

You need to answer - at least - with "very much" to feel comfy at FIFA

The location is next to the Zoo. People often mistake it for the reptile house.

FIFA is supposedly one of the highest paying employers in Switzerland. Couldn't find much on glassdoor, but following article was published a few years ago:

By intermediary I take it this means a head hunter. tbh, if they can't be arsed to do the bare minimum of their professional duty, find out basic information required for you to arrive at an educated decision, I'd tell them to stop wasting my time, but that's just me. They need to earn the commission they are in line to receive. Some people are just so lazy these days.

Hi, I found the same article but imagine the average may be skewed by crazy exec level pay as, second-hand or third-hand I'm told the normal staff salaries are average at best.

Regarding the hopeless agent: you're not wrong

But still none-the-wiser about what to expect at a high-level in terms of holidays / pension contribution / if there is a bonus. What I have found is that this forum is awesome. Every country should have one. If I end up in Switzerland I'll be all over this.

Re: Compensation / package at FIFA

i ve never worked there and dont know anyone, what I have noticed though is that over the past 18months or so, it seems they have continuous adds for the widest range of jobs ever. they keep renaming job titles etc so I assume they are not very successful in recruiting using any kind of channel (I keep seeing them on linkedin although I m not a follower or anything). just a thought that maybe the working conditions are not that special if they cant seem to fill the jobs...

I guess it'll be like any job here, during the interview they will ask you what you want you say, they counter .. a bit of bargaining and then job done.

Bonus not sure, but most places don't really offer 'benefits' packages as your salary will be seen to cover that for yourself.

Which area of FIFA? The TV and tournament rights people have all the money the other areas not so much.

Considering that "I've been approached and had initial discussions to join FIFA" why not stop beating around the bush with this useless time wasting head hunter, lost time may end up resulting in a lost opportunity.

Contact FIFA HR directly with your interest and with your questions.

That will be more or less like everywhere else - 20-25 vacation days a year (20 is the legal minimum) plus paid public holidays. Unlikely to be more, not allowed to be less.

As for pension fund, contributions are usually 50-50 between employer and employee (the exact contributions can be found online, they depend on age). Most larger companies increase the employer contribution by a bit vs. the employee contribution, but they are unlikely to exceed 75-25 (and that would be really very good, most don't actually offer more than 50-50 at all)

No idea on bonus/incentive systems.

Benefits depend on hierarchical level. But best to expect less than elsewhere, it's not supercommon here except for very senior execs.

Health insurance you'll almost certainly have to pay yourself, but may get favorable rates if they have a deal with some insurance company (you can still go for whichever one you want)

Re the article: "employee/staff cost" very likely doesn't refer to salary alone, but overall cost per employee, which is roughly estimated at twice the salary (includes, among other things e.g. employer's contributions to social insurances, pension fund and so on).

The headhunter or wannabe-headhunter does indeed seem fairly useless if he can answer literally none of these questions. Do some digging online whether you find the same position on their own job boards including, maybe, a contact person.

Hi Zontag, can I ask you if you received any further information about the potential offer to work at FIFA and its compensation package?
Thank you!
