Re: RAV Application for Unemployment Benefit - Translated

Attached is a translation of an informal RAV document called "The most important rules", used by some RAV offices. It's a nice overview of key RAV/ Kasse requirements:

Attached is a monthly statement example (Abrechnung) from the Arbeitslosenkasse with a translation of key descriptions. It should help RAV registered job-seekers to understand their monthly payments from the Kasse:

Re: RAV Application for Unemployment Benefit - Translated

Hi Mulhollander,

Can you help me clarify something on the monthly RAV statement please? I'm sure my advisor mentioned to me that the total number of holiday days accrued appears on the statement but I can't see where it is.

Thanks in advance.

Attached is a more comprehensive translation of an Arbeitslosenkasse monthly compensation statement (Abrechnung). Hope it answers your question:

Re: RAV Application for Unemployment Benefit - Translated

Attached is a translation of a RAV registration form. Completing this form prior to registration should make the registration process go more quickly although the requested information will likely be input directly into RAV's system when registering.

Also, the following documents should normally be brought to a RAV registration:

Foreigner’s permit (L, B, C)
Work contract
Termination letter
CV
Work certificates
Diplomas
AHV card (or Krankenkasse card)
Passport
Residence registration (Anmeldung) or residence certificate (Wohnsitzbescheinigung)

Re: RAV Application for Unemployment Benefit - Translated

Attached is a translation of Annex A of the "Guide for Insured - Unemployment" (Ein Leitfaden für Versicherte - Arbeitslosigkeit), which is available at the RAV arbeit.swiss website. This annex covers short-term disability insurance (Krankentaggeldversicherung).

When a RAV registered job-seeker becomes ill, RAV/ALK will pay only the first 30 days of sickness and up to a maximum of 44 sick days during the qualified period (Rahmenfrist). However, it is normally possible for job-seekers to continue with the short-term disability insurance of their former employer or to take out their own short-term disability insurance policy:

Re: RAV Application for Unemployment Benefit - Translated

I noted one question asking if one is still receiving income from other sources like self employment or other employment.... do they mean if one is getting income within Switzerland?

If one is getting income from other investments made ( in home country but never brings it into Switzerland) would that be counted / Self assessed?
