Postdoctoral scholarship at EPFL

Hi,

I am from India and I wish to do a postdoc from EPFL where I am in talk with a professor. What are the various funding opportunities that are available for me as options. I am aware of the Swiss govt excellence scholarship but it seems that it may take time (of-course assuming I get it).

My question is this - Is there an easier and quicker way for me to get a scholarship? Does EPFL itself provide some scholarships or can the professor take me as part of an academic project for which he is the principal investigator and salaries for me paid through the project?

Please help me ......

Re: Postdoctoral scholarship at EPFL

If you tell us what is your field maybe we can better help.

The easiest way is that the prof. that you are in discussion with has already a grant. If this is not the case there are some funding schemes in Switzerland, but it takes time and effort and most of them should be applied for through your professor. Some of them need research experience in Switzerland for grantee.
Anyway all of them require writing a research proposal and you need to prepare (depending on deadline) documents for around 2 months and usually, it takes around 5 months for an answer. Evidently, these funds are highly competitive and need very good publication record and citation and in some cases good academic and industrial network in Switzerland.

The most important funding grants are the following:

1.SNSF
2.CTI
3.EU horizon 2020 funds

The best is to check this website for more information:

Re: Postdoctoral scholarship at EPFL

Probably best to give the website for EPFL and not ETH. : )
https://research-office.epfl.ch/funding-opportunities

Most of our postdocs are funded directly by the unit (i.e., by the professor) through already-awarded grants or internal funding. Have you asked the professor you're in contact with whether he/she can fund your position?

You can write to us at the Research Office (email provided at website), and we'll put you in contact with someone who can give you direct advice for your situation.
