Why the possibility of sanctions if getting laid off is not my fault and how long could be the waiting period?
I said that in your case, I doubt you'd be sanctioned. But I don't know the details of your case, don't know why your employer may not want to make your contract permanent after the probationary period. Additionally, I don't know how the RAV would look at your short job history in Switzerland. Too many imponderables, that's why I flagged the possibility, albeit hopefully remote, of a delay in payments.

Waiting periods anecdotally range from one to three months. Maybe others have heard of periods falling outside that range.

And also, would I be still entitled to RAV benefits, if Id quit job by myself(I guess not due to abuse prevention mechanism which rav/insurance may have implemented, but have to ask anyways)?
Yes, you would still be eligible for benefits at the full rate (provided you meet all other criteria, as discussed above), but you would almost certainly receive a sanction on the longer end. Again anecdotally, you may have to rely on your own savings for three months.

Re: Rav benefits

Ive visited RAV and this is what happened:

Me: hi. I would like to know if i would be entitled to unemployment benefits in a case that employer terminates the contract during the probation period, which im still in.

Her: where are you from?

Me: eu citizen

Her: which country?

Me: im from <eastern European country here>

Her: you wouldn't be entitled to rav benefits.

Me: why?

Her: you should have applied to rav earlier.

Me:i dont understand. The law says that if i worked for at least 12 months in 24 months, that im entitled to rav benefits. I worked x-months in Switzerland, y-months in country A and z-months in Switzerland, therefore I should meet criteria.i can't see how applying earlier fits into this.

Her: the law has changed.you can still fill the papers, but i can't promise anything.

Re: Rav benefits

Without knowing which EU country we can't really comment. Or they may simply be wrong.

Re: Rav benefits

This RAV brochure, in English, gives an overview of the rights and duties of an unemployed person in Switzerland:

https://www.awa.sg.ch/home/arbeitslo...7_englisch.pdf

The U-1 application form needs to be completed to claim unemployment compensation based on work outside of Switzerland (German). (U-1 was formerly called E-301):

https://awa.zh.ch/internet/volkswirt...ines+PD+U1.pdf

A very brief description of the U-1 form is at this link in English:

https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizen...s/index_en.htm

Attached is the 2009 Antrag auf Arbeitslosenentschädigung (Application for Unemployment Compensation) in English. The current form is 2017 but the 2009 translated form is useful to complete it.

2017 Antrag auf Arbeitslosenentschädigung (German) at this link:

https://www.arbeit.swiss/secoalv/de/...beitslose.html

Good luck to you!
