Looking for Work in the Insurance Industry

Hi all,

I have done the usual- LinkedIn jobs and jobs.ch etc and have started applying using and English and French CV that my native French friend translated for me.

I have read up on RAV and of course I donít expect any benefits or anything like that but I am wondering if itís worth meeting with them to discuss any possible additional training courses and to have my CV reviewed?

Is it worth applying for the work permit first or wait until I have a job offer?

Iím basically just trying to do all I can to find work ASAP!

Thank you!

Re: Looking for Work in the Insurance Industry

Hey,

Thanks so much for the quick reply. My background is in the medical assistance for travel insurance (the 24 hour emergency service).

I am however also qualified as a claims assessor.

Thank you!

You speak French? Or any other languages besides English?

Re: Looking for Work in the Insurance Industry

A few questions to ask yourself as you put out feelers:
What do you know about the insurance industry in Switzerland? What do you know about the laws? Can you communicate in a local language? What qualifications and experience do you have that would be attractive to a Swiss employer?

You don't have to answer all that here, of course, but if you can't answer it on your CV and covering letter then it's going to be an uphill battle.

Assuming you're not here for family reunification...If you've not been here for 3 months just stay as a tourist and keep looking for jobs. After the 3 months apply for the job seeker L permit.

Thank you! I have prepared ĎSwiss styleí CVs in English and French and having worked in the overseas medical assistance field, I am hoping my knowledge on this will serve well here in Switzerland. I did wonder whether to meet at the RAV office to see if I need to be doing anything else though?

Re: Looking for Work in the Insurance Industry

As you're not technically resident here I doubt RAV would be able to offer much.
