New Job - Pregnancy - Chomage

Hello everyone

I need some information, as I cannot find in the forum.

I thinking to change job on in March. Currently working in Geneva living in Lausanne and the new job is Lausanne.

I have been working in current place almost 2 years. However I am pregnant and if I start a new job it should be almost 5 months of pregnancy. My new employee is aware of that.

As I will have 3 months probation and I don't know what could happen, the worst it could be I can get fired. I hope it won't happen, but I you never know.

I would like to know if I will be still instilled of Chomage and for how long, if I will get fired?

Your employers have not a single duty towards you if you a. quit your job yourself, and b. get fired during probation.

So that leaves the AHV (unemployment money), but they might say that you left security (steady job) for insecurity (probation period) and lower the payments.

But normally they will pay you if you contributed long enough.

Not sure whether the rules change if you are taken on as a new employee whilst already pregnant but generally the law protects a pregnant employee in that they can't be fired during pregnancy or maternity leave. They can, however, give you notice as soon as your maternity leave is over, though.
