I can confirm Jos' salary range, and I am an analog IC design engineer working in ZH

Well, it's true that there are some options and I've been looking into them but I agree with Adamastor, it doesn't feel as much as in other places (like Munich or Flanders).
Thanks a lot for giving me an idea about the salary. That's the first confirmation I got from people in the field, very useful! I was expecting for more though, given the high living costs. Do you consider this to be with bonus or other benefits or it's not something common over there?
ps: I don't think Apple is doing analog IC design in Zurich (but maybe I'm wrong).

Bonusses etc are not common, I encountered one company that had bonusses but they had an equivalent reduced base salary. AFAIK apple is not doing analog design in ZH, closest I know of is Munich. If you can find contracting work, that pays the best (125 to 150 chf an hour).

Loads of service engineer jobs that I do now even though I studied electronics in college.
120k-140k should be achievable.

May I assume you are a single guy ? As a single guy in Flanders (ie Belgium) your taxrate is the second highest in the world.....
Here you will have a net worth in 7 figures @ 50, just by working normally and having your spending under control. Try that in Flanders ( where i also came from...)

In addition, in Flanders it's true that taxes are very high but it's also very common to get a lot of 'tax-free' benefits. So after all if you take all that into account, it's as if you would be paying much less taxes. I end up paying something around 30%, not 50% as people thing.
But I agree with you that taxes in CH are much lower and salaries higher. At the end of the day a lot more is left. Just that the difference is not as huge as people think.

I moved to Switzerland from Belgium, whatever your salary is there add 30-40% to the gross that’s what you should get ballpark.
