Working in Lugano, Living in Italy
Hello
I am a UK national who lived in Zug/Zurich for several years and then spent just over a year far overseas. I have been offered a post in Lugano.
I am looking into the possibility of living in Italy (for us this works financially) and was just wondering if anyone could tell me how this works from a tax perspective? Do I pay income tax in Switzerland or Italy? What about other tax deductions?
Also, has anyone else done this and know of any other tips or useful information. How does it work from a permit point of view? I hope to get a 'B' permit as I did before, but I may get an 'L' permit? Is this ok for renting in Italy.
In the future should I apply for a 'G' permit? How do I apply for a 'G' permit? Can I have a 'B' permit and 'G' permit at the same time?
Or would a 'B' permit give me more options should I wish to relocate in CH in the future?
Finally, with regards health insurance how does that work? Would my Swiss insurance cover me in Italy? My employer will pay that. But what about my family? Would they need Italian health insurance in Italy as well, or would I just get them added to my Swiss health insurance policy?
With many thanks
