Humanities PhD + relevant work experience: career tips

Hi everyone!

This is my first post in this forum, so I want to thank you all for the massive amount of information I have found already.

I would appreciate any input/idea on career possibilities and job searching tips:

I finish my PhD in humanities (history of philosophy - history of Christianity) this July and I am looking for a non-academic position in CH, preferably in the German speaking part. I have some 6 years of customer management (not only support) in large IT organisations, but no specific IT coding skills... languages are not a problem as I speak German, Italian and Spanish fluent and I am improving my French. I have sent some 30 applications last month for Customer Success Managers roles and Business Analyst but I had only one interview so far that did not lead to a position. I am in contact with a recruitment agency, but that's it. Ah, my CV and my cover letter are Swiss style.

In your experience, am I missing on some critical points? Are there particular roles I am not considering? Or I should just be patient and keep trying?

Thanks in advance!

30 applications and you got an interview already?!? I'm envious. It took over 200 before I got an interview and I didn't get that position. I'm now at 254 job applications since arriving in Switzerland.

I'd just keep doing what you're doing. If you got an interview you're doing the right thing. The job market is rough here, regardless of what sector you're in or the experience you have. Most have told me to expect 6-8 months of job seeking, if not more.

Ah! I didn't imagine that! Thanks for the perspective! Good luck to you!

I forgot to mention that I am currently based in Italy and that I am a EU citizen
