Hotel situation in Lugano

Hi all.
I wonder if there is anyone in this forum that had worked in the hospitality sector in Lugano. In my home town I worked at a hotel reception for 11 years and I know more or less the whole situation regarding in which one is best to work at. What hotel has the best reputation. Is there some hotel you can recommend me to try and apply for a job? Thank you in advance

Well, I was GM at the Hotel Pullman Commodore ( now closed ) and then GM at the Hotel De La Paix for 3 years before we moved to the USA in 1976.
To apply for a Job now probably will be a bit difficult as the summer season has already started and for the winter season usually staff will be reduced.
I would try all 5 and 4 star Hotels.

Unless you have a lot of savings, you might want to find the job first and then move. You mention in your other thread you can only afford shared accommodation. Switzerland can be an expensive place to live while you job hunt.

Yes, I know. I was just in Lugano this weekend and had experienced that for myself. I do not live that far away. (North Italy). I will for sure not rent a flat and then look for a job.

I also experienced a great Jazz festival. And a car and body search at the border by Swiss police. Swiped my hands for traces of drug handling. Only body cavity search was missing for a complete experience. Was panicking when a police officer started putting latex gloves on. In the end it was for hand swipe. Was almost deflowered. But he was a nice man . Always this strickt on borders? In EU we had forgotten how that looks. But in their defense my ID photo looks like a Hells Angels police mugshot photo. Did it to myself realy

Look in the valleys.

My daughter and her friends always found jobs there, as they are too far out of the way for the Italians.

If you really look like that do you believe you will get a job in reception for a multi star hotel

After years of FO work and always been freshly shaved and nice haircut I could afford not shaving. My new job allowed it. I am back to clean shave and a normal haircut. My ID photo was taken then. I was a FO manager and I know what is expected from a candidate to work at FO. I was the one with GM that selected new employees. I know how one is expected to look to represent a hotel.
