Does anyone work at Pilatus Aircraft?

I have a few questions about Pilatus as an employer. Questions that could be best answered by someone who currently works there.

If this is you, please PM me. I have been working for the last year at a large construction company out of Zurich. However my background is much more technical aviation / aircraft building. Ex Boeing machinist.

Wish you all the best of luck.

Definitely. I would remove it from my CV, if I were you. At least, until their doomed plane model is much safer to fly ...

I quit working there before the first 737 MAX went into production. 2016.

Anyhow, my point was to get information about Pilatus. Not to invite criticism or commentary about my previous employer. Besides, would any of you enjoy explaining an 8 year black hole in your CV simply because you didn't like what's in the news about your past employer? Not likely.

Also, I'm not the desperate job seeker. I make good money. Simply interested in other work which is more aligned with my technical skill set. If I can make the same money and increase job satisfaction... I know, I know, it's the impossible dream. Which is why I wish to exercise a bit of due diligence before making official inquiries or applications.

Re: Does anyone work at Pilatus Aircraft?

This is second-hand input but might be of some value:
1. Pilatus reportedly hires "lots of British engineers" and other English-speakers.
2. Much of the work is reportedly done in English, as a result.
3. The pay level is reportedly less than, say, RUAG.

Re: Does anyone work at Pilatus Aircraft?

I have not worked there but know folks who have. I understand the contractors there were pretty happy with the work and pay, and were enough of them to have some banter.

From what I hear the permys are country folk, SVP voters, so not necessarily friendly to not only foreigners, but people not from the region. I also understand the hours might be quite strict and fairly unsociable, ie 5am or 6am starts.

They do make a great series of products though and very well build. If you can get in it will certainly be a good thing to have on the CV.

Re: Does anyone work at Pilatus Aircraft?

And I suspect the Pilatus people are smart enough to know the difference between a machinist and a software coder.

By all means include that tidbit in your CV.

Re: Does anyone work at Pilatus Aircraft?

A bit different topic. I was once in Lucerne at the interview for a job in Aurora Swiss Aerospace that would involve design of power electronics and control systems for their new flying quad goodies. My impression was it was American style managed company and in early stage of operation in CH. They required skills and previous experience in either automotive or aerospace. Maybe worth checking them too. There were mechanical engineers in demand.
