It depends. In my role, and the same for others in similar positions in my company, we were doing much more than booking flights and lunches (the stereotypical admin responsibilities). We were arranging large scale medical meetings around the world, drafting presentations, writing contracts etc.. (I was a marketing manager before in another industry.) Honestly, the job title wasn't fair...it was more like a project management role. But I did know "personal assistants" in my company that were making high salaries as well.
The two admin bods in our place also have pretty wide ranging job descriptions and responsibilities. Their official job titles are "admin assistant to xyz dept". They are both on just under CHF 100K each.

I saw online that the average salary for a administrative assistant is around 72K. Iím currently being paid this as a Scientist with 4 years experience and a B.S in Chemistry.

Am I getting screwed? Doesnít seem right to me...
Hi, this does sound very low. 12 years ago I have started in pharma in Basel with B.S. in math and no pharma experience and was offered 110K. Your salary seems to be not right.

An easy way to double check would be to find a recruiter in your field and ask them what they consider an average salary for this position. Having placed lots of people, they would definitely know the various ranges and the highest paying companies.

Yes you are being screwed. When I was first imported to Switzerland from the UK I was getting paid 68.5k for an IT support job (and I was paid 30% less than my colleagues), so for you to be getting paid 72k with your specialized education seems pretty crazy (in a bad way).
