Is the 70k sfr per year or per month ?

Re: Ruag

Haha, funny but I'm afraid that per month.

Some ideas?

For something as specific as aircraft mechanic do I not know how many actual data sets the comparison websites have… but 70k seems to be just under the average. As the average is 42 years old and probably has decades of experience in the same company: Id say it sounds alright.

70k per year is a bit low, if its 7k per month, it may not be too bad.

You will also have to see whats included in that rate, ie are you on shift and if so do they pay another, I dont know, 500 a month extra for shift work? You will of course have over time as well which will add up.

Are there bonuses and more importantly does the company hit the target to pay out bonuses. How many hours are you contracted for that salary?

On face value it seems a bit low, but there is more information you would have to check to see if thats the whole story.

Then of course your age and experience. If you are fresh out of training and early to mid 20s I guess its pretty good. If the company write into your contract you will get a licence and type rating paid for this is also a positive. The fact you are asking I suppose your experience in both aviation and Switzerland is low, so it could be a great stepping stone to get a feel for the industry and place, then once you have what you need to move on, either move on or ask for more.

Thank you so much for the answers.

For what I read it's a little bit under the average salary.

But anyways on internet there are so many contradictions about it, some people say its good, others not enough and others it's low salary. So I'm a little bit confused now :msnsarcastic:

As per my link does it seem to be roughly in the right ballpark. Its slightly under average, but I would expect people to earn more in Zurich and less in Bern... so you should be just about right.

Im triying to negotiate hard, but they are fix on data about the sector and canton, so they won't move ahead. I'm thinking about to compensate the salary with a little bussiness there, but ignoring the language, place, taxes, people's tastes... It would be really hard.

Well, Ruag being a government owned company do I expect them to be a little on the bureaucratic side… in the sense that they probably have an HR list where jobs have a pretty fixed salary attached to them. I guess the private sector has more volatility, but that can be both good and bad… my expectation would be that you wont get rich at Ruag but probably enjoy a more stable job than in other companies of the aviation sector… if thats the right thing for you can only you decide. They are certainly in one of the nicest parts of Switzerland, but also one of the really Swiss environments without the expat life of Zurich or even Basel...

Wow your support its really useful.

Yes it's that one.

At Glassdoor they have bad reviews, but I suppose only busted employees write there and loose their time :D

Any idea how to get better offer so?

Hi Miau,

I'm a bit late to the party here, I wonder did you take the job? I'm at interview stage now for the same thing, would love some info if you're there now! Thanks.

Andrew.

The pay under market rate and its not clear at all if you can promote. It looks clean and easy going place and they were really cool with me. They dont have experienced personal and the documentation and processes are messy. The cantine its good too.

Its up to you. Let me know if you finally go for it.
