The best things about not having a job

Hi,

Looking for a job [again] and thought I might compile a list of reasons being unemployed is a good thing.

Here goes.
  • You get to spend more time with the kids and family.
  • You don't have to rush to get anything done.
  • You more time to do more exercise, get fitter.
  • Less stress = Better health.
  • You'll get more appreciation from you dog/cat... lightly the most positive person in the house
  • You can spend more time doing the things you enjoy, less time the things you don't.
  • You'll have less sleepless nights worrying about the job, the boss, that annoying email.
  • You don't have to miss a meal cause you're too busy, you can eat at regular times everyday
  • You have the energy you needed to fix things here and there that you previously were always too tired to do.
  • You can nap during the day
  • You can surf the internet without worrying anybody is watching/judging you.
  • You can type silly lists in forums like this

Any more anyone.

  • You spend less because you got no spare money
  • You save the planet as you travel less as you got no money
  • You do less as you got less money

You need to find a job where you can do all of those things at work, getting paid :-)

You work?

I thought you were retired looking at the frequency of your posts.

Come on, it's hard not to see at least 1 post from you each day. I must admit though, your post today was quite long by your standards. I had to double check on my phone screen that it was really you.

When I work, I open Englishforum on my secondary, smaller screen. I am not worried about being judged though. I am more worried someone will discover my alter ego.

Try being unemployed for awhile, and this can soon become more stress = worse health.

Re: The best things about not having a job

From my own experience

- do your own cool research project, try to sell result
- time to take the motorbike out into the alps or black forest
- hunt for ingredients and cook unusual stuff
- finally time to fix up the bike and do all maintenance
- have a look what all the hype around 'fortnite' is about
- have lunch with still working friends, inquire about job (yey one more for the rav list !)

Me it also tought there is more to life than work. Found a job where they wanted to hire me full time but managed to arrange a (permanent) 60% job. My schedule now is work 2 weeks of 4 days, have a week free. And repeat etc etc. So next week for me is free..and the last week of sept, then to Tenerife mid oktober. No plans yet for early november but thinking about Algarve end of november.. or may combine those two weeks for a road trip to Barcelona. Then xmas holiday and a week Tenerife early January. Can definitely recommend 60% !

Every day that I'm not riding or wrenching.

Also, my daughter is starting her second year of chef apprentice, so I can delegate.
