Apply in the company where one refused an offer before

Hi. Let's say that I got an offer from a company 3 years ago, but I declined due to some personal reasons, but in a polite way so as the door was not definitely closed (at least that was what I felt).

Now I see that company is recruiting again, for an almost identical function in the same unit where I got the offer before. And this time I would like to apply, as the personal situation which made me decline the offer before has changed.

Question: in the CV should I mention that I got an offer from them 3 years ago? Or rather not as it might have a negative effect?

I don't see a problem but wouldn't mention it in the application.

In case it's the same line manager: give him/her a call.

Who mentions who they've applied to 3 years ago in their CV?

Why would you mention it in the CV? Or do you mean the cover letter? I wouldn't mention it in either, just go for the interview and if you are asked about it then explain in person.

Personally, coming from a HR/recruitment perspective, I would mention it in your application (together with the reasons why you turned down the offer). 3 years is not that long ago and it may well be the same recruiter handling the position. They'll remember and wonder why you hadn't mentioned it - especially if you were a great candidate and they were gutted you turned down the role! It could shorten the process if they see you're available again as they'll already have the interview notes and feedback from the last time!

I would mention it... not on the CV but on the cover letter.

Re: Apply in the company where one refused an offer before

Just an update.

I applied mentioning that I got an offer from them before in the cover letter but not in CV.
They then called me. They said as they already had seen me a couple of years ago and had been comfortable competence-wise with me, this time I was placed directly to the final interview (by skipping a whole-day interview process that I already did with them before). The final interview was an informal discussion with the line manager (who was also there during my interview process a couple years ago) mainly on my motivation and what has changed since last time to let me consider working with them.

Then I got their offer. And this time I accepted!
