Employment at will

Hello, has anyone ever had an offer of a position for an organization on an "employment at will" basis, meaning no contract provided, and managed to make this work in Switzerland? The person concerned is a B permit holder from the EU, but would have no contract to provide to the cantonal population and migration office. It seems that for a role of more than 90 days, a contract is required for the authorities. Thank you!

Re: Employment at will

Employment at Will does not refer to the lack of a contract. By US definitions, and disregarding the notice period bit, all employment in Switzerland is “at will” as you can leave or be let go without reason.

Strictly speaking, a written contract is not mandatory in Switzerland. Nonetheless, legal protections still apply, you simply have an oral contract. That said, I can only imagine anyone ever doing that in Switzerland for dodgy reasons, though Tom will be along shortly to tell you about his six and a half careers (not just jobs) where that worked out beautifully for him.

Get a written contract.

Two, actually, only one of which was oral.

Thanks for the reply! Just to clarify the situation, this is an organization headquartered in the US, which works on that basis, and they do not do contracts. Period. The additional concern for the person involved is not having a contract to give to the cantonal office.
