Self-Employ or Anabog with one client?

Hi all,

In few months me and my partner will move to Zurich from London. Him with a full time contract signed and myself with a job opportunity of working as a consultant/freelancer for a company based in another country (though within the EU).

They offered me the opportunity to work from home with a basic salary which I would need to invoice them on a monthly basis.

Now comes the question, will I be a Anabog or a Self-Employ? My understanding of that, reading in this forum is that I would probably be an "anabog" as I have only one client.
Would this be worth to do in term of cost of setting up the a company? I'm still not sure how much the basic salary will be.

As my partner has a full time contract and he will apply for the B permit, can I also receive the permit B being both of us from EU?

Thank you very much in advance

Ceci

Another possibility is to work for a payroll service. This company is then your legal employer. A payroll service that has been mentioned for being reasonably priced is Payroll Plus:

After getting your feet on the ground with a payroll service, you could then explore other possibilities such as Anobag.

You can´t be ANOBAG with only one client, they will see this as a "Scheinselbständigkeit" or pseudo self employment.
You need at least two separate billable clients with differing addresses.

Thank you very much for the answers guys.

What does it means be a pseudo self employ? Would I need to register my name as an owner of the company anyway?

I tried to send an email to the migratiosamt but I haven’t heard back from them. Is there any office is Zurich where I can ask specific question in regard of that.

Thank you so much!

It means that they will see it as if a company is trying to get around paying the mandatory employee deductions and it is designed to prevent misuse.

Re: Self-Employ or Anabog with one client?

To clarify, Anobag is for

"Anyone resident in Switzerland and working for an employer not liable for contributions in Switzerland pays social security contributions as an ANOBAG (‘Arbeitnehmer ohne beitragspflichtigen Arbeitgeber’, meaning a worker whose employer is not liable for contributions)."

Also:
"Anyone working for an employer not liable for contributions in Switzerland pays their own AHV (old age and survivors’ insurance), IV (disability insurance), EO (income compensation), unemployment insurance and family allowance contributions."

The above is from this insurance broker's website (English):

https://www.quali-broker.ch/en/angebot/anobag/

The SVA Zurich would be the interface for a Canton Zurich resident who works for a foreign employer not liable for Swiss social insurance contributions and who would like to register under Anobag (German):
