Go to a bar and ask for a weekend job? Might be overly simplistic but it's how most people I know ended up with some barwork.

Go to a bar, get really drunk and then they will probably give you a job.

PS: How do you survive on 500chf a month (after rent)? Why didn't you just move into the cheapest shared apartment possible?

Difficult if he doesn't have the money to get drunk. How would you solve that little chicken and egg conundrum?

How on earth did you get an apartment for 1.350,- with a contract for 1.850 Net. No landlord or agency knowing you earn less then 4.000,- would even consider to rent out to you.

There are two options, both of which can dramatically change your chances of getting a job in a bar.

1- Get drunk on cheap booze then go into bar.
2- Sneak said cheap booze into the bar and consume on site.

Re: Survival

Oh, so now it's an apprenticeship that's been ongoing for a while?

Previously it was working in business and being required to wear suits every day. Then it was not knowing how to do a bank transfer for Tram fines whilst being back in London (but he'd already said if he went back to London he would die). Last weekend's complaint was about living in a greasy studio apartment in Birsfelden and what to do about it.

We've also had serious assault resulting in head trauma, anorexia, depression, loneliness, the list is like elastic and I fear it will keep growing.

I used to be a copywriter and you learn to work out on reading things whether they are perhaps not as genuine as they would seem. You can work out certain "voices" as you have to find these yourself in order to tailor things to each type of job you do. Is it not about time we accepted on this forum that this is someone who is having a laugh at our expense? I am just not convinced that this person is for real.

Have you tried Coople? It's very easy to find a job at suitable time/location and also it's a great source for a long-term roles too. Coople is great for all people who already work but need a few extra shifts per month to cover expenses.

Get really drunk, don't be able to pay, offer to work it off, work so well that they want to keep you.
Easy.

So, Justin, your life is mighty chequered. Or do you keep forgetting to add "asking for a friend"? An other theory of mine by now is that you're a lad somewhere in GB, trying to figure out how to move to Switzerland and shooting out all the "what if's". Which would also be a very clever way to get prepared. But if so, do you ever dream big? Leading to questions like
  • If I make 220K Franks a year, how can I legally safe on taxes?
  • Would it be a good idea to accept the offer of my beautiful Swiss wife to take over her fathers international company?
  • Is it possible to employ a 24hour chauffeur in Zurich or will I need two?
  • Now it's so difficult to get a second home in Zermatt, how can I get one anyway?
  • Is it possible to get work permits for my domestic servants because they've become like family by now?

Those are also much more fun to reply to.

Get really drunk,
People who can't afford an ambulance bill of 1.000,- or 1.500,- should not get really drunk in this country.
