Occupational Therapy

Hello! I'm an occupational therapist currently working with children with special needs and developmental disorders. I m planning on moving in Zurich. I am taking german lessons, cause my level is A2. My question is how well known is occupational therapy in switzerland, am i going to find a job easily speaking english or/and german? Are there many clinics/centers that provide occupational therapy or this service is offered mostly at schools? Last question, i think i m supposed to contact red cross to get my qualifications recognised, right? Do they only take into consideration my degree or do i need to prove that i speak the language?

thank you in advance, every answer will help!

Re: Occupational Therapy

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, you will need to have your qualifications recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.

Swiss Red Cross (SRC)
3084 Wabern
+41 58 400 44 84 (Mo-Fr, 08.00am-12.00am)
www.redcross.ch

And yes, you will have to prove you speak a Swiss language, probably at B2 level minimum, but they will be able to confirm what level you need.

Be prepared, this may be a long process. Iirc it's taken some nurses 2 years to get recognised to be able to work here.
