The Federal Council has extended short-time work compensation (Kurzarbeitentschädigung or KAE) to on-call employees. The announcement says (translated):
"The circle of those eligible for KAE will be extended to include more on-call employees. Previously, if the employee's employment level fluctuated by more than 20 percent, they were not entitled to KAE.
Now they can be included in the applications if they have worked for at least six months in the same company. This is intended to prevent the approximately 200,000 employees who perform work on call in Switzerland from being dismissed. The companies can continue their on-call employment and it can be assumed that the period of receipt of KAE will be shorter than any unemployment."
