1st Month on RAV

Quick question if anyone has experienced this situation.

I was made redundant (3 months notice). Done all the RAV / Stadt protocols but my first month money was a small % of the expected amount. Apparently there is a formula for the first month that null days depending on last salary ?
I was a little shocked as was not informed that this is the case in the first month.

Is this Canton specific (Luzern)?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Re: 1st Month on RAV

Itís standard.
There are a certain number of days before RAV kicks in. The number of days depends on your salary.
There may also be penalty days depending on the circumstances of your application for unemployment benefits.

No kids and salary above a certain amount = 20 days.

Re: 1st Month on RAV

RAV-registered job-seekers receive a monthly statement (Abrechnung) from the Kasse with a detail calculation of the amount paid. Post 29 at this link contains a translation of key descriptions on the monthly statement:

Re: 1st Month on RAV

They compare it to a "deductible / excess" as unemployment benefits are an insurance.

I see, and understand, but annoyed that I didnít know about it before and budget accordingly.

Did you go to the information meeting prior to making the claim. It would have been explained there in german and it is mentioned in the information brochures. AFAIK there is some flexibility depending on the cause of the unemployment, so if you compare how you were treated with the minimum stand-down days applicable to your situation you should be able see how it was applied in your case.

In German-speaking CH, many/most/possibly all cantons have replaced the RAV "information meeting" with eLearning. This is the link to RAV Ct. Zurich's RAV eLearning in multiple languages. Also, some cantons use Zurich's eLearning and some offer their own:
