Summer job as a teenager from a non member EU/EFTA?

Hello, I am new to this forum and I hope you guys answer/have similar questions on this topic. I am 16 years of age and I have work experience in a grocery store. I also study the German language in school and I am looking for a summer job in Switzerland as a member of non-member EU/EFTA countries. Which is Serbia. My question was, are there any summer jobs in Switzerland that would hire a 16 year old Serbian and give me a work visa/permit? I am guessing some people have similar questions and I hope you guys can also benefit from this thread.

Re: Summer job as a teenager from a non member EU/EFTA?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, but the answer is no. Non-EU nationals are under a quota limit for permits and you need to have things like a university degree, etc, to even be considered for them. Also an employer has to apply for the permit and show they can't find a Swiss/EU national who could do the job.

Might have been on some sort of exchange programme for students possibly or working illegally.

I'm guessing some might be really willing to exploit you. You can't work here legally unless in some sort of approved collective seasonal schemes or whatever. So exploitation is a very probable consequence.

Sorry if I'm blunt, it is what it is. You're too young and inexperienced and someone must warn you. Take care.

Yeah, thanks for the advice and I understand that would be tricky. Do you maybe know some collective seasonal schemes? I know people who worked legally and illegally I don't wont to break the law or to take any chances so the legal way is the only way.

It is a bit late to apply and nobody knows what the summer will bring and you're a little young, but I would look into summer schools. Maybe you'll find something.

If you can play an instrument, dance or act or draw it'll improve your chances of finding some work.

Look private schools across Europe.

In normal times STA is quite popular with young people. But check for the Covid19 info on top of the page (ie. we are not living normal times now and do not know if/when we will again) and check for the age restrictions. Hope you find something that suits.

Re: Summer job as a teenager from a non member EU/EFTA?

Thank you all for responding and for giving advice that I found moe that useful. I did quite a research these days.

The STA doesn't accept people from Serbia and sadly and I haven't been able to find the summer schools that would accept me so far but the search is still on!

I have been thinking working on the farm as I have experience in that area,so is there any chance for that?

Re: Summer job as a teenager from a non member EU/EFTA?

you could look into https://wwoof.ch/ but caution, this is non Paid farm work. it would be just for the experience / Adventure.

Farmworkers usually come from within the EU. Therefore I don't think that you will find it. No. Also you're a minor. So additional Problems. I think you will have to look for a summer job in Serbia. Sorry.
