Chomage Benefits

I am collecting chomage. The powers that be want me to attend a language course. I don't want too. I don't want too cause I don't want to spend 3-4 hours a day on public transport in covid-19 times or indeed sit in a class with a shedload of strangers, who have also been exposed to god-knows-what.

Can they stop my benefit if I refuse to go?

Re: Chomage Benefits

they are currently your employers- so yes, they can. If you got a job tomorrow you would have to travel and be with other people too. You can of course refuse, and turn down the chômage payments. As most people are back at work now, and kids go back to school full time on Tuesday- it seems fair. A friend did a course on-line due to Covid, but no longer applicable from Tuesday.

I am puzzled though- where do you live and where are the courses? I have go a good picture of the Vaud map and 3-4 hrs commute seems strange.

Language course at ECAP by any chance?. I learned a little about local languages there and a lot about other foreigners like me.

I live in the boondocks, on the edge of Vaud. So I take a slow train 30mins and then faster one, 30 minutes.. I need to walk to the station locally, and then to the class. The timing is of course s**t too. So I'll either be just under an hour to wait after I arrive or early or I'll be late.

Sadly there was no option to take an online course or I would have jumped at it.
