Employment contract

Dear All,
I hope you can advise me on a situation my husband has, they are currently employed and were nearing the end of their current contract, at the start of the year they were offered a CDI contract a vernal offer was made and this offer was also confirmed via email. Fast forward several months and my husband receives an email offering a 2 year contract. When querying with HR, he was advised that due to the 'situation', I assume the recent COVID-19 lockdown etc, the employer cannot offer a CDI contract.

So we are wondering what is the legal position of this situation, a verbal and written offer of a CDI, then several months later replaced with a 2 year contract, effectively an extension.

You help and advice would be greatly appreciated. My husband is really feeling very disappointed about this.

Thanks in advance.

Since they could sack you, you have zero protection with a CDI, so not worth doing anything

Nope, you can leave on identical terms as they can fire you, seems balanced to me.
