If you have an open permit you don't need approval. Just change jobs.

If it's not tied to your employer, it's open and you can change jobs without needing prior approval. They probably just want to check the salary to make sure you'll earn enough to support yourself/dependents. Also remember that officials don't always know the law themselves.

Doesn't matter, they can't refuse it unless the salary is ridiculously low compared to what you earnt before.

With an open B you are effectively like an EU national who holds a B permit. You can change jobs at any time and so long as you can support yourself/depedents financially you're fine. Enjoy the new job.

Good to know. The salary is actually 40K higher hahha

The contract has too many conditions like if I join somewhere after I leave I have to pay specific amount of money etc.. I am thinking that is why. Also something like I will be paid X amount of money in the first three months and after that something else.

Keep in mind almost all timelines right now are delayed thanks to the backlog from the lockdown. Two weeks is nothing. Why not call them and see how things are going?

Re: Change of Job non-EU B permit timeline

I suspect the Gemeinde are confused. When I changed jobs (several times) the employer could easily call the cantonal work authority to check the status of my permit. All they need is the copy of your residency permit (to give your name and numbers) and the cantonal work authority will confirm for you new employer that your permit is valid and the new job is allowed.

As an employer, we would often do this - even if the permits looked valid, just to be sure that they were still current and there were no problems employing someone.

So actually, if there's a question from your employer about 'permission to work' ask them to please phone the cantonal work authority to check your permit status. It probably will take a single phone call, or they might ask the employer to email through a copy of the permit, so they can verify the details, but it will be done fast. The canton will want to help your employer.

I have already been there four times. Finally, they told me that the authorites who approve received it just today ( It has been two weeks since i submitted the contract in the gemeinde) and they have a lot of backlogs to clear and asked me to be patient.

Actually, I have a written letter from the gemeinde that I can change jobs so used that.

Last time UBS tried to do it and they massively ed up. The canton where I stay gave UBS a written letter than I can change jobs in an hour after they popped the question but UBS HR was not satisifed since the job is in Zurich and then he said I need to ask Zurich as well. He asked to me fill a bunch of forms and I had to wait three months and then I got pissed and ask the gemeinde and they replied to me in a day. The ZUrich canton scolded the UBS people and UBS got pissed that I contacted the gemeinde and rescinded the offer. hahha
