Change of contract and unemployment

I currently work at 100% but my employer is looking to restructure and may reduce my contarct to 50%. As my husband has lost his job, I can't afford to work at 50%. However someone told me that if I refuse to accept a new contract - I would only be eligable to 80% of 50% from the caisse de chomage. My company does not allow you to take another job so I couldn't even make up my pay by doing another part-time job. So my question is if I refuse the 50% contract - how could this affect my claim for unemployment benefit ?

Re: Change of contract and unemployment

Accept it, and claim 50% unemployment, thus giving you 90% (50%+0.8*50%)

Re: Change of contract and unemployment

If they do, go talk to the unemployment people. As mentioned they may well top up the salary.
You can accept, or accept but only to take effect after the statutory notice period, or reject and wait to be terminated, again with the statutory notice period. This might or might not affect your unemployment payments. Best to talk to them.
