job fairs (recruitment)

Hi all.

A lot of threads are about how to find a job in CH. I found my first job in a job fair, ETH Polymesse, so I can tell it works.

This week, October 5-9 2020, there's the EPFL Forum with lots of open positions to offer. https://www.forum-epfl.ch/en/edition-2020/stands/

There are similar events in Zürich, Biel, St. Gallen. I'll repost in this thread when I read about them.

Good luck in your job hunt!

My wife is a Chemical Engineer (recently finished her PhD) and is looking for a job.

She's considering to give a look at the EPFL forum. Thank you for sharing. It would also be interesting for her to visit the one in Zurich and St Gallen.

The ETH Polymesse was cancelled this year because of covid19 =( I guess next year will also be around March https://www.polymesse.ch/en/

Re: job fairs (recruitment)

Updating this thread a bit. Before covid, the job fair organized by ETH for scientists, engineers and the like had place around March/April.

For 2021, it was rescheduled for October 4-7

Re: job fairs (recruitment)

I've been to a couple of those events over the years and to sum it up: If you are a fresh graduate with a CV that can be comfortable put on one page... this might work. Anyone more experienced which cannot explain his profile in 7 seconds or does not 100% slot into "Out company is looking for 5 electric engineers" will have a hard time. On the other hand do many of the commercial events come with free drinks and if you just take it as a networking opportunity without stressing yourself can it be fun.
