| | Got a pay rise yesterday and now my job no longer exists
Yesterday my boss called me and told me that I got a small pay rise for my excellent work We had a nice chat and managed to get an agreement to postpone 5 extra days holiday to next year as I will be 60 and want to take off two weeks during that time...
Today I was in a must attend meeting to hear that mine and six other peoples roles no longer exist including my boss so even she did not know about this
There are four new roles of which we can apply for one or more of them.
Wish me luck as I think I have a 50/50 chance on one of them but might apply for another role just for the interview experience too ... If I pull this off it would be amazing given my age
Roll off time is a bit vague but the new structure comes into effect 1st Jan 2021 ..
Just another of life's challenges presented itself ...

How mean are they with their holidays? That sounds like US holiday allowance. Or did you mean two months?

Or no rights at all

He wrote 5 *extra* days so I would assume this means in addition to normal vacation allowance.
No rights other than what's in the contract or implied through statutory rules.
Your age shouldn't have much to do with it unless you're admitting it's affecting your work or you think the financial aspects would sway their decision.
How about early retirement? I know a few people who were worried about losing their job but when they did the calculations realised that they could get by on early retirement and have said it was the best thing they ever did. Go the the RAV for two years or so as you get repeatedly rejected for hobs for being too old.
Losing your job isn't the end of the world. You might come down with a terminal illness. What use is the money then?

Basically I was granted to carry over an additional 5 so 10 in total.

Age doesn't affect my ability to do the job but it does affect the cost I represent to the company.
Not possible to do early retirement as a 7.5 year divorce has left me decimated financially, in addition I still need to contribute for my teenage children.
Agree about the health, honestly in some respects, this will all pass, given a choice I would pick my health.

Is the new pay level what the RAV will base their payments on?

I thought they look at your last year's income so surely this wouldn't have taken effect yet?

The rav covers salary up to 150K which means a single person should get 70% of that. That means 100K which I think is pretty sweet of a deal and certainly not something to be ignored

Surely, whether you have kids to support factors into it, it was my understanding that it's 80% for those who have kids? It would be especially cruel to punish single parents with lower payments, even or rather especially if they are the ones left with alimony payments as there is not really any way to "tighten the belt" on those.

RAV pays 70% w/o children and 80% with children based on your average salary earned in the last year with a cap, I think CHF10'500 CHF per month.
