advice please,i was given two months notice at the end of march,My current boss is winding down the company, i did not expect to find another job,being a 55 year old bricklayer, so notified the rav straight away, they told me to ring back mid april as they are currently swamped and all claims now online due to corona, two weeks ago i had a blackout and was taken to hospital,i had worked all day on a cold without eating anything i was given the all clear after numerous tests, As luck would have it,an old boss of mine rang me out of the blue ,and offered me a job, the only problem being he needs me to start 1 may,(one month prior to my official termination), i spoke to my current boss, we agreed i could leave 16 april, today i got home to find a letter from the hospital, to urgently attend for a consultaion about an anomoly in my heart, the appointment is for the 20 april, 3 days after i finish work and 10 days before i take up my new job, if i am told i cannot work due to a unforseen problem, where do i stand conceerning sick pay? as i will not be officially in employment,will i be eligable for rav, does rav cover one in this instance, it is a series of unfortunate incidents

What do you have in writing, regarding the termination of the current job?

my original termination contract was for 31 may, but when i got a new job offer it was changed by mutual agreement to friday 16 april, as i start new job 1 may and wanted a few weeks off ,to do tax returns jobs around house, i then got the letter today to be recalled to hospital on 20 april

Others know this better but my take would be on 17th April your on RAV, ie once official employment ends. It would be sickness not accident so your normal maladie cover would be paying for it so employment status no effect there. Only thing is whether you get rav payments if your unable to work due to sickness, this I don’t know but someone here will I’m sure.

Call hospital for advise whenever you should continue working ( you likely have some symptoms since you already been to hospital for specialist - so likley it be formality - just ask what their advise is before your examination on 20st ).

- have your Arztzeugnis either from hospital or home doctor .
- take care of your medical condition first.

just to let you know - with Arztzeugnis you would extend your 'dismissal ' for duration of the sickness and whenever company is winding down won't matter . Do not worry about that - you are insured anyway .

Take care of your health at first - job will be there once you get back on your feet.

The problem is, he would not be under the employer's care by then. Also he has agreed a mutual termination with the employer so even if he's signed off sick tomorrow the notice extension by month might not (probably doesn't?) apply or the extension only applies with the number of days not another month. Look into this urgently. I don't know if there's any right to rescind a mutual termination.
RAV also might not look kindly on a mutual termination and in any case there would be a waiting period. I don't know if a waiting period counts for RAV sick-pay but they otherwise would pay out for up to 30 days at a time (with a further limit). After that you're effectively on your own. The new job might not be there if he's not fit for work.

Hopefully there's nothing to worry about. I also once was called in for such a thing after an ECG but was let go after noting that such anomalies can exist in athletes (of which I'm not).
I really wish you all the best and that everything is OK. If you can't work you might be screwed. Call to see if you can get an earlier appointment before your last day.

You should not be on Rav given you chose to be unemployed between jobs to have time off so be careful.

sickness extends notice regardless of whenever mutual or not - should he be concerned about health and not fit for work that is what one should do.

for RAV - falling sick on RAV is insured under RAV rules while when under employment - it is employer insurance to cover , that be about only difference.

- I am unaware that there be limitation on RAV side for sickness or else regardless of what was the reason for becoming unemployed
- Not sure why he be on his own (I guess you refer to the salary payment) while on he's fully covered by public health insurance

and whenever he has salary payment in next 30-days depends on fact whenever he be still considered as employed at his current work place ( and that would happen with sick-leave ) or not based on his voluntary leave from current work-place .

Imho - this could have longer consequences should he be called unfit for work (IV) - being employed when it's called for - would give him 18-months or so from current company health insurance provider and than be moved to IV insurance
