I am moving to your beautiful country, namely to Zürich, myself got an engineering job secured, but my girlfriend will be coming along, and we are wondering, how likely is it that she can find a proper job, with english language knowledge (so far, we will learn german), a BsC in economics, and a few years of experience dealing with finances of companies, like receipts, invoices, bills, etc. Would appriciate some insight. Thanks!

I hope you find it to your liking. ZRH and GVA are very international cities and English is pretty much standard for everyone so there be no issues with communication or daily life . When looking for a job there isn't much put on the side of education since US and European educations differ , while certainly it looks good it won't be decision criteria.

For a start I'd recommend to find any job that has to do with using German and that is usualy not an office job I'd say. Look for anything that could fit the bill and maybe do little fun - working in the pub was always my day-dream job but I never did - maybe there is something she would like to try.

COVID means working from home and finding employment that way is not easy when tasks can be done remotly - they could easly be done across any EU location - but I'd suggest to look at companies that deal with US market and seek employment there - same with native English speakers.

Good luck and stay positive - most important you two find some friends and start new life - find some support around you in case.

Finance and English go together nicely in Zurich - something in either the financial controlling, project management (PMO) or general office admin + finance would be a possibility in one of the banks or in an English focused company.

I assume she's checking LinkedIn, jobs.ch etc.

Recruitment goes really dead in summer so that may also be a factor depending on timing - don't worry if there seems to be nothing around in July and August!

When I read bills, invoices etc. I don‘t think of English speaking roles in banks in Switzerland. It sounds more like accounts payable/receivable, which is either going to need local language skills or is offshored. It‘s quite a big step from doing that to financial controlling and again a lot of the junior roles are outside of Switzerland (which IMO is going to create a talent pipeline problem down the line).
