Fired- Permit L- RAV Eligibility

Hello All,

I've recently being fired (effective Jun 1st) from a Swiss company due to restructuring due to Corona situation.

I've worked there 2 years and i'm on Permit L, expiring on July 2021 and i've EU passport.

Do you think i'm elegible to unemployment at RAV?
I started sending out applications a couple of months ago, got different offers outside Switzerland, problem is my GF is here and as well my life, got a couple of interviews here in VD but without success.

Thank you for your help.

You should be entitle to benefits as you have worked more than 12 months in 24 months. You need to apply for 10 jobs a month during your notice period.

You can register with the RAV at any time between now, but if you delay keep a record of all job searching activity & replies.

Re: Fired- Permit L- RAV Eligibility

I have repeatedly posted that people should only register with the RAV about a month before they get unemployed - there is little sense to go there repeatedly during your notice period. But in the case of the OP is the time NOW. Because they will need a few weeks to set up everything to pay you... so unless you want to wait for your money later on, better rail this up.

Re: Fired- Permit L- RAV Eligibility

Thanks for the advice, so i need to go physically to the ORP in my canton right?

Haven't registered yet cause i thought i would have been able to manage by myself but I guess nothing is wrong to get the benefits and the help I gained by paying taxes in the last couple of years.
The only thing that was concerning me was the permit expiry date, given only a month is left.

Thanks in advance for the help you guys are giving me.

Yes you are, you can also apply for a permit renewal while under the RAV umbrella.

Unemployment is not a social support measure. So the impact it has on permit renewal chances is small.

Re: Fired- Permit L- RAV Eligibility

Technically you should register at latest the first day of unemployment but you can decide for yourself before then. Seeing as RAV can help you with job searching, not registering might go against you if you have only a small number of applications. There's no fixed number of applications, they don't even need to be applications, but you need to convince the officer that you're doing all you can to find work. There's no penalty if you refuse a job outside of the country or an unreasonable distance away. RAV will take care of any permit issues at least for a while. I would have thought everything would be online at the moment.

it's an insurance for which you pay contributions, not taxes, it's not social aid
