To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

Hi friends,

I'm an Solution architect with 10 years of experience and
I received a job offer for role of Enterprise Architect IT & Cloud with 150K CHF Salary (What I asked in the beginning) in a non-tech company in Zurich.

I wonder to where can I go with the negotiation?
In addition to that I'm in advanced process with 2 other companies (Big Tech) and the total compensations should be a way more.

Main points:

1. I want the first role
2. I want to keep the good relationships that company (HR/Hiring manager)
3. It is not possible to wait for the Big Tech's companies actual offers.

I would love to have your opinion about how to approach that situation.

Thank you

So they have offered you what you asked for & you are still not happy. Not sure I would want such a person working for me.

Re: To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

Wait... you received an offer for the salary that you asked for and now want to push for more?

1) Why do you think you are suddenly worth "much more", have you checked salaries for this position in Switzerland on Glassdoor? https://www.glassdoor.com/Job/switze...0,11_IN226.htm

2) Does the 150k include bonus and benefits?

3) Why did you 'only' ask for 150k in the first place?

Of course it is your right to negotiate, but usually it is the situation where a company makes you an offer and then you negotiate higher. In this case, you have asked for something and you say that they have given you it, but now you want more.

Please provide some logic to support your questions.

Re: To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

Thank you for the messages.

I asked 150K because it is my first role in Zurich.
The other companies offers should be around 180K.
Should I give up on any negotiation regarding?

At the beginning we didn't talk about the total compensation, only about the base salary.

Thank you again.

How do you know the others offer 30k more and how likely are your chances of actually getting that job?

I asked you HOW you know the other companies should be around 180k? Please explain the logic.

And it is your fault for not properly doing your research before asking for a salary. The company gave you what you asked for and now to re-negotiate, while of course 'possible', will likely not make a good impression.

Glassdoor.
About the chances I don't no, but actually I don't want that jobs so it doesn't matter to me.

I'm just asking how to kindly to a negotiation about the total compensation. (We talked ones only at the base salary and only at the beginning)
Maybe relocation package?

Thanks

Re: To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

I personally hate it when candidates do this and I have seen a lot of line managers walk away. Imagine it was the other way around?

Unless you have very good reasons, if you want the job and want to start on a good note say "thank you very much when do I start"

In that case do not move from the 150k base salary, but ask them about an additional bonus and other annual compensation measures (perhaps a public transport subsidy) to add to the 150k base salary. A relocation package is always good to discuss.

What type of company (industry) is it?

Re: To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

I will re-phrase it again.

If in the first call I asked for a base salary of 150K and we did not talk about anything other than that.
What other benefits can I ask for in a nice way that are not related to base salary?

Thank you again!

I don't know what language you will be working in, but your English reading and written comprehension skills are less than ideal. You read half of what people write and only give vague replies and details in your own posts.

Sorry for that,
I was surprised that it was very bad how I phrased the issue of negotiation so I tried to rephrase everything.

Yes, you can ask them. Whether you get it is a different story. Also dependent on how much they want your skills or whether a similar candidate is available who is already in Switzerland.

If you have been clear you expect 150 base, and they now offer 150 all in, of course you can and should negotiate. Normally companies ask about total compensation though.

If they have now offered 150 base, you should ask about total compensation, ie bonus, relocation, allowances.

Make sure you read carefully what they offer. I have never seen an offer that is just base and leaves the other elements (if any) open.

Re: To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

If you want to renegotiate, you can only do that if you have the concrete offer for the other jobs in hand and use that as a basis for negotiation. As others posted: the company may not like it.

Also be aware that you need to compare total compensation, including target bonus, benefits and also check the employee and employer pension contribution.

The type is manufacturing industry.
Do the 13th month payment usually included in the base salary?

Base salary is base salary, irrelevant if they pay in 12 or 13 months, doesn‘t change the amount.

Re: To where can I got with the negotiation of the Job Offer

I’m not a specialist in tech, but my understanding in Switzerland is that only big tech pay big tech compensation, so if you want big tech money that’s where you have to work. In this context 17% less doesn’t seem unreasonable.

You have not mentioned the industry or size of firm, but if it is of any decent size the benefits will be standardised for your level in the hierarchy. If there is a bonus (and it isn’t banking) it will likely be to a formula. Thus, the only real negotiating room you have now is on a relocation package. Things that could potentially be included:
Flights
Temporary accommodation
Lump sum
Relocation agent
Language lessons
Tax filing assistance
Repatriation (if they end your employment without cause)

you can start and then wait for the offers from the other companies. if still within the probably period, you're free to quit/renegotiate with the offers in hand.
