Re: Equivalent salary 90k Munich to Zurich?

If you can't get here at least 150k CHF, then you are most likely better to stay in germany with 90k EUR.

I was in 80k before I moved (almost exactly 90k euro), and now get 145k basic and am way better off.

Re: Equivalent salary 90k Munich to Zurich?

Ok, thanks for all the information.

In fact with 90k in Munich, I have around 4300 net left, the apartment is around 1300. I should mention how difficult is it to find a place in Munich. I assume it is much better in Zurich or around the city. Not a luxury life at the end of the day.

I am pretty sure that already with 100kCHF it will be better as it should give me CHF 6'354 net / month. 140kCHF should give me CHF 8'458/month.

You would struggle to find an apartment for the equivalent of 1300 EUR in Zrich, at least if you are looking for an apartment compatible with a 90K lifestyle.

Re: Equivalent salary 90k Munich to Zurich?

Sure, if I keep the same ratio of around 30% for the flat, I should be able to pay up to 2600 CHF/months, it seems to be quite sufficient following what I can find on immoscout.

The apartment market is very competitive in Munich, if you can find something it's already a miracle.

What makes you think its any better in Zurich? Loads of threads on here about how difficult it is to find a place, how to submit a dossier/appeal to the landlord. When we left Zrich in 2014 we had at least 10 applicants as Nachmieter for our place that cost 2,700 a month. I dont think the situation has got any better in the intervening 7 years.

Re: Equivalent salary 90k Munich to Zurich?

Well I sometimes assume that it cannot be worst than Munich. I had a friend in Zurich and it didn't took months to find something.

You would have received 100s of applicants for a similar apartment here . Even a WG is complicated...

I actually agree that Munich is worse than Zurich in this respect. Which does not mean it is easy in Zurich. Easier if you have money and a German name.

But take it seriously. Imagine leaving Munich behind, regretting the move, go back and then have to compete for housing there.
