London salary expectations

I am giving serious thought to going back to the Uk after covid has stopped my ability to freely travel.

I have 15 years experience as a programme manager in finance and my total comp is 200k chf. My base is around 180k chf.

Having not beim in London job market for nearly ten years does anyone know what sort of salary I can expect ? I am aware of the massive Uk tax rate as well

I was seriously hoping for 150k gbp as total comp. something like 130k gbp base and 20 gbp bonus but an ex colleague told me I was dreaming

I really cannot help, but others who could might find it useful to know what a "programme manager in Finance" is or does.

My friend is on similar for FD of a sandwich/refreshments chain based only in London.
Pretty standard expectations for high level finance roles.

Personally Id wait a year or so for Brexit/ COVid to filter through, as travel will ( IMHO ) get easier.

Manages a number of projects. Not just one project but maybe a dozen. Manages inter project dependencies risks assumptions issues etc

So this kind of salary in London 130 gbp base is not exceptional ?

Yeah right. When we had the first lockdown, we assumed it would last a few weeks... now look where we are now.

I think the OP is totally right and if it wasn't for my Swiss spouse I would also go back.

For the little my opinion is worth it seems odd timing. We seem to be through the worst of it (surely this can't be allowed to go on past this winter) and there's nothing other than tests stopping you going. Which you can clearly afford. And days after yet another tax rise back home.

Re: London salary expectations

Unless you hate the environment you're in, 200k with lower taxes is better than 130k with high taxes. Read the UK newspapers online, it's a mess every single day. The Swiss media keep things a bit more positive.

Re: London salary expectations

Programmer manager in finance - I doubt you will find anything unless you have a good CV and background. If you have, you wouldn't be asking here as recruiters should be calling you. The market is pretty good now.

Get a UK based Skype number - quote that in your CV and post it on the job boards. You will find your answer soon.
