That's exactly the problem. That's not to say that I havent found opportunities that match me, there have been NGO's, Government missions that have had internships which don't require french nor experience. But I haven't had positive responses yet.

Have you checked that your CV is done as the Swiss prefer? It's not the same as the UK.
The other possibiity is that your partner tries to get a concubine permit for you. This is for unmarried hetrosexual couples - the Swiss don't really do unmarried, but there you are they try. For this though you'd probably need to show proof of a long term, committed (leading to marriage?) relationship with holiday photos, e-mail correspondence, travel tickets, etc, and your partner would have to agree to be financially responsible for you for 5 years. But at least it would get you a permit which may help the job hunting a bit more.

Then it's a job, more study or a registered partnership for a permit.
Websites to try if you haven't already: www.jobs.ch www.jobup.ch www.monster.ch
You could also look at monster.co.uk - they have an international jobs section though most likely it will be for those higher level positions. Still it never hurts to have a look and it could surprise you. |

These big companines and organisations want top level people, speaking several languages and they have the pick of the field as everybody wants to work for them, just to have the name on a CV for later on.
It's a total falacy they'll take anybody, they are pickier than any other employer. A small company may have a use for a native English speaker, but a big one......they all speak English + other languages

Hi ShaneeeAJ,
Did you have any luck? I have tried contacting numerous recruiters here without any success (other than a auto response). Its tough to find a job here, i have been looking for some time and haven't a found any recruiter so far to give me a second of there time, nor have i had any success on any of the job boards, even applying for basic admin roles.
I was just curious if you had found the same?
thanks
Pete

Hi Peter,
Nope, no luck as of yet, with recruiters nor job boards, but i'm not giving up hope. Are you in a similar position to me? | Quote: | | | | | Hi ShaneeeAJ,

Be aware it can take up to a year to find a job here, even for experienced/skilled personnel. Swiss companies can be slow to act on applications and sometimes it's just that they're not quite ready for you yet. |

If you have any luck speaking to anyone, happy to share contacts etc

Good day everyone,
I am looking for work in Zurich, I stay in Wildberg. I have a logistics degree and an Honours degree in Transport Economics. I'm learning German (slowly) and was wondering if anyone knew of any opportunities for interns/graduates in my field or any related fields. I have already applied to many international companies without any success.
I have a Swiss passport and speak fluent English. I am willing to do any part time work aswell, if anyone needs help with admin, cooking, house keeping, au pairing ect.
If anyone has any information for me, I would appreciate it very much.
Thank you! |

Thank you! | | | | | Several comments:
1. RAV Swiss Job Service: if you haven't already done so, you should plan to register at your local RAV office. They should be able to provide you with advice on how to look for a job in CH and also may provide financial support for a German language course.
- If you are a "returning Swiss" and previously worked in S. Africa (or elsewhere), you may be eligible for a special unemployment compensation program which lasts 90 work-days (four calendar months). Your local RAV office can tell you more.
2. Auslandschweizer-Organisation (ASO): this organization has a webpage on finding a job in Switzerland, which might be useful: http://aso.ch/en/consultation/back-t...-to-find-a-job
3. Job boards: These two links list many of the job boards in Switzerland: https://www.ag.ch/media/kanton_aarga...lenboersen.pdf https://www.biz.erz.be.ch/biz_erz/de...m_Internet.pdf
These three job search engines are particularly good, imho: https://www.indeed.ch/ http://jobsuchmaschine.ch/de/ https://www.jobagent.ch/ <= code required, generally available from RAV
This is also an interesting website for English-language jobs in CH: https://jobs.nzz.ch/search?nzzexe_se...nnels%5B%5D=12
For temporary informal jobs, you might want to search tutti.ch and anibis.ch, which are free ad websites. There are often ads for people wanting assistance, e.g., cleaning, helping elderly people, taking someone shopping or driving someone to work, etc. http://www.tutti.ch/ganze-schweiz/stellen-kurse http://www.anibis.ch/de/job-job-ange...dvertlist.aspx
Good luck to you! Edit:
Might also want to look at Liliput.ch for jobs in homes and kitas: http://www.liliput.ch/stellenmarkt?q=english

Have you tried Kühne und Nagel? https://www.kn-portal.com/about_us/careers/
(No connection, other than they are located in my village, the company has a good reputation.)

K&N are big international group. Why would they want to employ somebody in Switzerland who doesn't speak German, yet will require a Swiss size salary. They can either easily employ somebody far cheaper in somewhere such as UK to do exact same job, with todays' communications or employ somebody here who speaks 2 or 3 languages fluently for the same salary.

Thank you everyone for all the help. I have registered at RAV and I am finding my feet

Saw a cracking job ad tonight, working for a Swiss company in my previous UK job role....
...based in Cheadle, Cheshire! That was quickly followed by another Swiss company offering jobs in Canada.
